Part 1: Assessment Technology (150-250 words).

http://b.socrative.com/student/#take-quiz/q/1 the quiz I Created is considered to

be a summertime quiz. It is going to analyze what a student should know after the
completion of first grade. When created this quiz I used topics from the major
topics in school including science, mat, spelling and science. I then used a
combination of True false. Short answer and multiple choice. This will allow me to
analyze the abilities for students to write, and their ability, to determine what the
correct answers are. Through selecting the right answer. By taking this summertime
quiz at the end of the year, it will allow me to review some of the topics where the
students, might not know the correct answers yet. This assessment will also allow
teachers next year to know where they maybe have to start the lessons, and what
they have to work on.
Part 2: Blog Post
Introduction (4-6 Sentences):
The following paper is going to explore why using technology to assess
a students learning can play an important role in the classroom. It will go through
and briefly describe what types fo technology is out there for students and teachers
to use in the classroom. As well as looking into the pros and cons of using
technology to assess a students learning. With technology being everywhere including

the classroom. Teachers no longer need to create tests and other assessments with pen and paper
anymore. Instead it is easier than ever, with the use of software to help create assessments, and
monitor a students progress.

The use of software makes sure the students are getting the most of the
learning and can easier keep track of what the student is missing in the classroom.
As well as compare it to other students in the classroom. The use of software makes
these comparisons and data easier available, and allows the teacher more time to
analyze the data, and determine the changes that can be made to the classroom.
Allowing software to make the assessments the data can be easier shared and
compared with other teachers in the school. Through the use of technology and
software we can make sure we have the most up to date assessments and learning
criteria, that is supposed to be known before moving on to the next level. The use
of software also make the most important data, is the most up to date and fit into
all standards including the national level and the state level. This allows the
students to be successful at all levels. If a teacher hast research all the data at
these levels the teacher is spending more time creating the assessment, instead of
making sure the students are getting the most out of the classroom. The use of
software assessments can deliver immediate results, that are accurate and do not
have to be figure out at a later time, giving the teacher an easier time to prepare
where they go with the lesson plan.

Digital observation also known as digital diaries, has the ability to track a students
academics. Not only does it track how well a student is doing in the classroom, but can also keep
track of a students classroom behavior. Through the use of digital camcorders and voice
recorders teachers and students can get By creating these type of assessments it allows the
teacher as well as the student to see the students progress over a period of time. For the little
boy who may not be able to sit still, and focus for long periods of time, can easily see what
helped him remain focused, or what ways were not as effective. This can also be a tool to help
other teachers in the future knowing what techniques to avoid using.

Write to learn is a web based writing tool that incorporates reading and ones ability to
write substation expository writings that go along with the readings. The program assesses the
students reading and writing abilities and compares them to where the standard is what they
should be. This program should be used often to accurately asses the writing improvements of th
student. Through the use of the program the students can start the learning process and learn
how to write effective summaries on articles, and books to working their way p to writing more
complex reports. This program monitors their ability to write and continue to build their skills.
Star Assessment is a program a teacher can use to make sure the benchmarks are being
met, and can let teachers know where a students levels are. This allows students who need more
help in certain subjects to be put in the classroom, The students who dont need the extra help
can be put in a classroom where students, may move through the curriculum ata faster pace.
Meaning they are more advanced and will be able to move through the curriculum at a much
faster pace than the students who need to go a little bit slower to make sure they are getting the
information they need to succeed in the classroom.
A formative assessment measure the students progress on a more day to day basis
allowing the teacher to make changes to the class as needed in the classroom on a day to day
basis. Meanwhile a summertime assessment looks more at the long term progress a student is
making these are used for example quarterly, or yearly to measure the progress a student has
made in the defined period of time these are important to make sure the student is keeping up in
the classroom and getting the most out of the instruction as possible. Both types of assessment is
important for it allows the teacher to know how each student learns differently and what changes
can be made to the classroom to make sure each student is getting the most out of the classroom
experience.

There are many pros to using technology assessments to monitor a students improvement
in the classroom. The biggest one being that the teachers have more time to focus on the
classroom and preparing to make sure they have the most productive form of instruction to
benefit, all students in the classroom. While this benefit is good one of the cons is that
assessments are not as personal and the information on the assessments may not be the exact
information the teacher wants on there. Or if a teacher wants to be not so hard, on the students
grading and not so hard on the students. The online assessments are set to certain standards and
are not as easy to modify the curriculum. Another Pro to using technology is that the data is
stored and can easily be reached by a number of people to help determine the help the student
needs to make their learning experience successful.
The use of technology as a form of assessment can benefit the classroom in many ways.
It allows the student and th teachers to accurately record and keep record of how a student is
succeeding in the classroom. With the technology and standards for the classroom constantly
changing this is the easiest way to make sure the student is succeeding to the fullest of his or her
potential.
