General Purpose: To Inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the five main types of manga
I. Introduction
Do you know what this picture is? Can anyone guess? This is the cover of a
manga. Before we start categorizing manga, we have t first have a brief
summary of what manga are. Manga is a Japanese comic book that mostly
comes in black and white. In Japanese, manga means whimsical pictures.
Manga are often made into cartoons, or anime. They are Simplistic and
deceptively easy looking but you need to have a very in depth knowledge of
proportion and anatomy to be able to draw them properly.

although manga are comic books, and they seem to be very childish, manga
are actually very suitable for adults the age of 40, which brings us back to the
main point of this speech.
Although it might not seem like much, but one day, after you decide to get hooked
on manga, you might be grateful for this when someone makes an unfavorable
comment.
The five main categories of manga are:
1. Shnen. 2. Shjo. 3. Seinen. 4. Josei 5. Kodomo
II. Body:
1. Shnen.
It is mostly Boy's Manga (mostly teenage boys) that has Action and
Violence but not over-the-top,
The Main character is always getting stronger or better.

 A very well known example is Bleach.

2. Shjo.
Mostly Girl's Manga (but also people enjoy,). It has a Distinct art style and
has Romance and love stories, the characters have Large detailed eyes, there
are Beautiful Visuals
an example is Ouran High school Host Club
3. Seinen.
Men's Manga
It has Nudity, gore, profanity, and harsh violence, as well as A more serious
and harsh world. Has a main character or thing that strives to become
stronger or better.
Berserk
4. Josei
(or redikomi)
Women's Manga shows a realistic romance, as opposed to the mostly
idealized romance of shjo manga. Contains more sexually explicit and more
mature storytelling. It contains infidelity and rape.
Paradise Kiss
5. Kodomo
Children's Manga
Moralistic, Teaching children how to behave as good and considerate people
and helping them to stay on the right path in life. It is Stand-alone, not
continuous.

III. Conclusion
By now, everyone should be able to recognize the five main categories of manga,
which are:
1. Shnen. 2. Shjo. 3. Seinen. 4. Josei 5. Kodomo
