HOW TO OVERTHROW AN OPPRESSIVE GOVERNMENT

Throughout the ages, governments have grown into bloated, ineffective beasts that serve
no cause except their own enrichment. This being a sad truth of human nature, it is healthy to
have the occasional revolution. These glorious realizations of what is true and good should be
staged out of desire for the people to be better served, and if they are not, it is unlikely that they
will succeed. Because most people are unaware of the proper steps needed to pulverize tyranny,
some direction is needed.
In order for a successful coup to be performed, public support must be rallied in order to
stir the proper amount of discourse. This can be achieved only with properly formulated
planning and calculated strategy. Once the government in place displeases the people by means
of an unjust act, revolutionaries must take advantage of the situation by uniting under a common
banner or ideology that appeals to the common man. This is exemplified by the Bolsheviks
unity after Bloody Sunday (on January 22, 1905). The Tsarist regime opened fire on its own
citizens who simply wanted to present Tsar Nicholas II with a petition. This was precisely what
the Bolsheviks needed to gain the peoples support. Their public appeals following this atrocity
denounced the acts of the autocracy for its blatant disregard of the voice of the people. The
twelve years afterwards provided a sufficient amount of time for the communists to spread their
propaganda throughout the nation and make their voice well-heard.

Once the appropriate foundation of a revolution has been laid, it is ready to be carried
out. A great deal of plans must be constructed by the revolutionary leaders addressing all
possible scenarios of backlash by the government still in power. A definitive leader of the
movement should then be made visible (as the Soviets did with Vladimir Lenin). This man or
woman should give speeches and spread word through a new wave of propaganda, stating that
revolution must break out for domestic peace to ensue. Seeing as the government in power will
refuse to step down (that is a certainty), armed uprising becomes the only choice. Your armies
must gather weapons and passionately storm all rgime strongholds in a glorious display of the
true power of the people. As the Russians stormed the Winter Palace, all revolutionary armies
must seize any fortress supporting the archaic system.
Although the revolution is complete, the most complicated part is yet to come.
Dominance must now be asserted by means of an iron fist, for consistency in leadership is a key
principle in the formation of a new nation. If any weakness is apparent to the commoners, it is
possible that a subsequent revolution could be brewed. This step can often become a bloodbath
of disagreement and fighting within the high ranks of the new government. The leader of the
group which organized the revolution must then polish his/her followers (by eliminating any
weak links). If any dissidence is perceived, the member(s) pervading said disagreement must be
done away with quickly, and by whatever means necessary. It is a brutal truth, but it is for the
greater good that supremacy must be affirmed. The Red Terror demonstrates an effective muzzle
that was placed on the enemies of the Soviet State, so a thorough study of its history should be
made by all aspiring revolutionaries. The Bolsheviks exercised their power quickly by

eliminating all competitors and adversaries, effectively remaining the only source of leadership
and power within the newly established government.
Looking far down the line, the established government will hopefully prevail in providing
the people more of the services that past governments did not, without appearing weak, or
collapsing. This goal can only have been achieved by consistently monitoring economic, social,
and international conditions. Any turmoil which could arise again in these regions must be
addressed swiftly and decisively, otherwise the state will be at risk of collapse. The Soviet
Communist Party exercised these principles with extreme precision until the flawed leadership of
Mikhail Gorbachev led to the very disintegration which has been described. If any extra
information is ever wanted for by revolutionaries other than what has been presented, an in-depth
study of the Soviet Union should be done, for no other revolution has demonstrated as glorious a
purpose, or so glorious a result.
