YEAR 9 SCIENCE CHECKPOINT EXAM

PHYSICS REVIEW TIPS

Dear year 9 students,
The date of the Science Checkpoint Exam in April is coming closer and closer
and the time came for you to start thinking properly about the importance of
this exam.
In order for you to succeed, you have to know about the exam requirements and
to revise properly.
About the Exam
Science Exam will be assessed using two papers. Each paper will be taken in a
forty five minutes session.
Questions will be set on topics of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
Both papers will contain questions totalling 50 marks with a variety of response
types including multiple choice and short answer. The questions will demand a

All the questions on both papers will be compulsory. As far as possible the
questions will be arranged in order of difficulty through the paper in a repeating
pattern of topic.
On Paper 1 the pattern will be Biology, Chemistry, Physics and on Paper 2 the
pattern will be Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

timetable with all the revision sessions you plan to have (study one hour

- Make flash cards with formulae and definitions so you can read them
very often and memorise them
- After revising each of the topics, solve some of the questions given by
the teacher
- Solve new questions for each reviewed topic
- When you finish the revision, start solving past paper questions and
check the answers
These are just some general suggestions I made. Each student has different ways
of getting the best from revision sessions.
Whatever you do, try to keep in mind what you have to look forward to. Exam
success will make your future brighter. Aim to do your best, and be happy with
yourself.
