Pluralism

The theoretical pluralism describes the phenomena of different studies coming to

different results and suggests that even though some of them might be
contradictory, they might all be true under certain restrictions, in special
situations or in combination. CMC research examines assumptions, tests their
mechanisms and then tries to make generalizations.
An example for pluralism is the claim that CMC users would develop affinity over
CMC and the second claim that interpersonal information is also transmitted
online with the final agreement that good relations via CMC depend on attraction
to the group identity and not due to interpersonal information.
