TVSA Pilot Training

Diploma of Aviation
(Instrument Flight Operations AVI50408)
The Diploma of Aviation can be completed either Full-time or Part-time. The
full-time course is 5 days per week, while the Part-time course is 15 hours
per week.
The course includes the underpinning skills required to support learning at
the AQTF Level 5 (Diploma), as well as meeting all Civil Aviation Safety
Authoritys (CASA) licensing and regulations applicable to Instrument Flight
Operations.

Course Delivery
The course is delivered face to face on campus through a combination of:
Ground theory - involves CASA endorsed Flight Instructor led institution
based classroom delivery lectures, mass briefs, workshops, seminars,
tutorials and case studies.
Practical in-flight training - supports and confirms the assimilation of
relevant knowledge and skills theory.
Practical simulator training - involves extensive simulation of a variety of
weather types and other physical variations.
The theory and practical lessons are designed to explain the elements and
criteria of each unit of competency as well as preparing the student for all
CASA theoretical and practical assessments.

Qualification
Students completing all components of this course and demonstrating
competence in all units will be awarded a nationally recognised Diploma of
Aviation (Instrument Flight Operations) AVI50408.

Vocational Outcome
Successful completion of the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Flight
Operations) ensures that the student has obtained a Multi-Engine
Command Instrument Rating (ME/CIR). The ME/CIR will enable a pilot to
navigate enroute, depart and arrive in meteorological conditions requiring
sole reference to flight instruments and navigation aids.

Entry Requirements
TVSA will look at education results achieved. Whilst Maths and Physics at
year 12 are not mandatory, they are highly desirable. TVSA will through
interview and simulator assessment, assess the applicants hand to eye
coordination, situational awareness, spatial reasoning, and English
comprehension.
