Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to introduce myself as a candidate for the position of Business Analyst at The Monitor
Group, in response to your ongoing campus recruitment process at IIT Bombay.
I believe that management consulting as a career offers immense exposure across a plethora of
firms and industry sectors, with new assignments every few months. The opportunity to understand
existing business problems and develop real-world solutions for them is what attracts me to
consultancy the most. This coupled with the interactions across global industry leaders makes it an
invaluable learning experience and an ideal start to my career.
As a core team member for Mood Indigo 2009, I understood the nuances of working in a team and
taking decisions with a varied group of opinions. Frequent exchanges with the media and marketing
representatives helped hone my communication and people skills. The creative freedom enabled me
to design the first ever formal media campaign for the festival.
My internship with Ernst & Young in 2010 introduced me to a corporate working culture. It gave
me an opportunity to work on a challenging project and provided first-hand experience in client
interaction. In complete contrast is my ongoing work with the Unique Identification Authority of
India, which has sensitized me to the workings of the government and the challenges therein. I
have been overwhelmed by the enormity of the projects and the diversity in the people I come in
contact with.
Computer Science as a field of study has introduced me to several analytical and logic-based
problems along my courses and projects. My interest areas of algorithms, formal specification and
decision making involve analysis and optimizing of computer programs.
These experiences have helped me gain new insights across various fields and augment several
aspects of my core personality. I am most proud of the fact that I been able to form lasting bonds
with all my colleagues. This, along with my skill sets and a strong passion for excellence and teamspirit would enable me to effectively contribute to your firm.
I am confident that I will be a good fit in the firms collaborative, entrepreneurial, and intellectual
culture, and look forward to the prospect of working for The Monitor Group upon graduation.
