Gender Resource Center

Whereas: Several questions were raised at the Father Wild Forum on February 26,
2008 which addressed the concerns of students about sexual violence
on campus; and,

Whereas: Nearly 66% of college students experience some sort of harassment, but
less than 10% of these students report the incident1; and,

Whereas: According to the Marquette University student handbook, there is a “zero

tolerance policy” toward sexual harassment; and,

Whereas: The “At Marquette” student handbook lists six different places to report
sexual harassment instead of a clear comprehensive source; and

Whereas: Marquette University is one of only three Jesuit Universities in the United
States that does not have such a resource center that provides
information and support on issues of gender-based discrimination and
violence.2

Therefore: Let it be recommended that Marquette University create a unified

gender relation resource center to serve students who are victims of
sexual violence.
