Response to the Criminal Events of March 1, 2008 and March 5, 2008

Whereas: It is Marquette University Student Government’s duty to identify and


address the concerns of the students; and,

Whereas: The Department of Public Safety has greatly improved communication in


the past week; and,

Whereas: The University repeatedly stresses its care and concern for the safety of
its students; and,

Whereas: On the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2008, a Marquette University


student was assaulted and robbed; and,

Whereas: In a separate incident on the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2008, two


Marquette University Engineering students were abducted at gunpoint
while reaching for a Blue Light Phone; and,

Whereas: On the morning of Wednesday, March 5, 2008, two armed robberies


occurred within six minutes of each other involving two Marquette
University students; and,

Whereas: Several students and parents have voiced their clear an apparent
concerns for the personal safety of students on campus since the
criminal events of March 1, 2008 and March 5, 2008.

Therefore: Let it be resolved that MUSG and the student body will not stand for
violence perpetrated against any member of the community or any of
the communities surrounding.
