According to the Boise State University website, the mission statement of the office
of the provost reads: The Provosts Office is committed to creating a culture,
structures and processes in which faculty, staff, and students can thrive so that,
together, we will accomplish the universitys mission.

What are the responsibilities of your reader?
Dr. Martin Schimpf is, as the provost of Boise State University, responsible for the
implementation of academic priorities for undergraduate studies at the university.

How much does your reader know about this topic?
Considering Dr. Schimpfs 21 years of service to Boise State University, it is right to
say he knows, in-depth, the importance of equality, fairness, tolerance, and a well-
rounded student body.

What is your readers experience with this topic?
Considering the duties of the provost of a university, it is fair to assume that even if
Dr. Provost has never received this specific proposal, he has received one similar.

How does your reader feel about the topic?
I am sure Dr. Schimpf feels that creating a tolerant, progressive, well-rounded and
empowered student body that represents Boise, Idaho and Boise State University in
a positive way across the country around the world is one of his top priorities.

How does your reader feel about you?
As Dr. Shimpf oversees nearly 20,000 undergraduate students, I feel that he respects
me. However, I come with no credentials or influence behind my current proposal.
During my research, I hope to develop a proposal that highlights the success of
gender studies on campus and exemplify the importance of creating a safe campus
and university through a zero tolerance for sexual assault, discrimination, or hate
crimes.

How will your reader read your document?

Dr. Schimpf will read my proposal in a letter format. It is highly likely, considering
the volume of documents requiring Dr. Schimpfs attention that he will only read the
purpose/summary section of the proposal. Knowing this, it is critical that my
purpose and summary section are on point, illustrating the need and importance of
the proposition.
