Description of how to implement in the class: The teacher will introduce the study of famous Americans using the
video on Harriet Tubman. The students will be asked to remember one important fact about Harriet Tubman. After
viewing the video, the teacher will list all the student responses. The teacher will divide the students into groups. The
students will listen to the video again at an assigned listening station, where they, along with their group members, will
develop one more fact about Harriet Tubman not listed in the original list. Once there are enough facts for each student
to have one fact, the teacher will support the students in creating a podcast using Audacity. When the podcast is
finished, it will be added to the classroom website for others to view.
Students will select one of the other famous people assigned to the grade level. As a group, the students will research
