1. This section of your portfolio will count as a major test grade.


a. The highest possible points for the activities are noted by the description.
This does not mean that just because you do it and turn it in, you get the
maximum amount of points. Your completed work should be of the quality to
earn the maximum amount of points to receive them.
b. Extra points will not be given for doing extra work. The highest grade
possible is 100. It will count as 2 test grades.
c. Directions for the activity must be followed completely to receive full
credit.
d. Do not plagiarize, copy another student, or allow your work to be copied.
Those assignments that appear to be copies or are plagiarized will receive
NO points.
e. USE OF ONLINE TRANSLATORS WILL RESULT IN NO CREDIT. When
writing stories, sentences, dialogues, etc. stay within the vocabulary you
have already learned in class. Remember, Sra. Tomlin know what you have
learned. Basic vocabulary can be found in the Spanish books or Spanish
dictionaries. Keep it simplestay within your vocabulary!! Also, keep all
writing appropriate for school.
f. These projects will be due to be completed when the portfolio is due at the
end of the term on a date given by Sra. Tomlin.

**If your portfolio is not handed in at the BEGINNING of class on the required date, you
have one week to turn it in late for half credit. If you are absent (an excused or
unexcused absence) on the due date, your portfolio is still due. Make arrangements
to get it to school!**

Portfolios are due February 27th, 2015.

Procedures
1. Label each activity with the activity number, title, your Spanish name and the date.
2. When you finish an activity, store in your portfolio until ALL activities needed for
the term are completed. Then gather them together, complete the cover sheet, put
everything in your binder and turn it in to the teacher. You may turn in this section
anytime during the term, but do not turn in partially completed work expecting it to
be held for future use. Once it is submitted, it will be graded.
3. Some activities (not all!) require pre-printed forms or directions. These forms will
be available from Sra. Tomlin.
4. Activities that cannot be placed in the portfolio need to be photographed for the
portfolio and presented to Sra. Tomlin with the proper form.
5. If you have any questions or need to submit something via email, you may send it to
cjtomlin@itawamba.k12.ms.us. Make sure to include your Spanish name and the
Assignment Name.
Typing with Spanish Characters
To insert Spanish characters into text in a Word document, you can always click on the
Insert drop down menu, then select Symbol Make sure the font is (normal text)
then insert the symbol you need. However, there are some shortcut keys you can use in
documents, online, etc.

Portfolio Activities
_____ 1. Comic Strip
Draw an original comic strip in Spanish (6 frames minimum) and write the script in Spanish for
it. If should be clever and amusing (but appropriate for school), just like the comic strips in
the newspapers. (20 puntos)
_____ 2. Clothing Catalog
Practice your clothing vocabulary by designing a page for a clothing catalog. On an unlined piece
of paper, include color illustrations, descriptions in Spanish, and prices. The clothing items may
be of any style or purpose, realistic or imaginary, as long as they are school-appropriate. All
text must be in Spanish, and the page must contain at least 50 words in Spanish. (20 puntos)
_____ 3. Dilogo
Write a dilogo (conversation between two people) in Spanish that uses ALL EIGHT different
question words (quin, qu, cundo, dnde, por qu cmo, cunto/a, cul) . You may work with a
partner, but you both need a copy of the dilogo in your portfolio. (20 puntos)
_____ 4. Vocabulary Mobile
Make a mobile of 10 Spanish vocabulary objects/words/phrases. Dont just have 10 Spanish
wordsyou need to use an object or picture to illustrate each word! If you use objects, each
one should be labeled with its Spanish word. You supply all materials. (15 puntos)
_____ 5. Create your own vocab list
Use a Spanish dictionary to make a 20-word vocabulary list over any topic that interests you
that we have not covered in class. In your list the words need to be defined with pictures, not
English words. (10 puntos)

_____ 6. Youre the Teacher


Teach a family member or a friend (that is NOT in Spanish class) 20 Spanish words, then make
up a written quiz and have them take it. Grade their quiz and turn it in. Make sure their name
and relation to you is on the quiz, so I know who you taught. (10 puntos)
_____ 7. Twenty Original Sentences

Write twenty original sentences in Spanish using a vocabulary list we have studied this term.
Underline the words from the vocabulary list.(15 puntos)
_____ 8. Draw a Map
Using an 8 x 11 piece of unlined paper, draw a map of your assigned Spanish speaking
country. Label the surrounding countries, bodies of water, mountain ranges, lakes, and 5 of the
major cities (one should be the capital). Add color to make it look nice. The name of the
country needs to be printed neatly at the top. This needs to be hand-drawn, but you can trace
it from a computer print out. (10 puntos)
_____ 9. El Calendario
Make a calendar of the months of the year in Spanish for your assigned country. Each month
should include the name of the month written in Spanish, the days of the week written in
Spanish, the appropriate month illustrations, and at least 1 holiday that is celebrated in your
assigned Spanish speaking country. You can also include the birthdays of famous people from
your Spanish speaking country. Use color, make sure its neat. (Remember the Spanish week
starts on Monday.) (10 puntos)
_____ 10. Online Games
Play Spanish vocabulary games online. You can use the links below or find your own but make
sure the games ACTUALLY PRACTICE SPANISH! You will need to send a screen shot of the
time showing how long you have played and email it to Sra. Tomlin or show it to her on your
electronic device. She has the form that you need to complete this activity and she must sign
the form upon completion to verify that you did play for at least 30 minutes. Feel free to play
for more than 30 minutes, but you wont get any more points. (5 puntos)

_____ 11. Collect Memorabilia


Collect 5 pieces of memorabilia all in Spanish, or with both Spanish and English on them (for
example, directions for electronic equipment, flyers from the library, brochures, Spanish
newspapers, clothing tags, etc.) Write a paragraph in English about where you found these
items, then make a list of two Spanish words you can recognize or know the meaning of from
each item. Watch out for Frenchmany items in our stores have English and French labels,

too!) (5 puntos)

Find an English-language news article relating to the Spanish-speaking country you have been
