that Nelson Mandela led South Africa during a crucial time of need. In the article, you find
information from many years of his life. In order to take you on a journey through his life they
start at the beginning and continue to 2013, when he was sadly died. For example, He died at
his home in Johannesburg on December 5th, 2013(Nelson Mandela Foundation). This evidence
tells just some of the detail of his life included in the article.

Amy DuBois Barnett, in the article Lessons Nelson Mandela Taught Us informs that
there are many lessons Mandela taught us that we take for granted. DuBois Barnett, in her article
shows many lessons that Mandela taught us and how he taught us these lessons through his life.
In order to tell how many lessons he has taught us and how we use the everyday. For example,
We all possess a moral compass and an ability to evaluate right and wrong. (Barnett). This
evidence suggests that Nelson Mandela ad many inspirational quotes that taught us a lot through
life.

Discovery Channel in their documentary, Documentary Nelson Mandela the fight for
freedom it advocates that Nelson Mandela worked hard to fight for freedom not only for
himself but for his people. In the documentary it talks about the difficulties Mandela had to face.
For example, the documentary states that, Mandela had an 8ft by 7ft room in which he slept in
the floor and had a bucket for a toilet(Discovery Channel). This evidence show the horrible
fight he had to go through to get to the abolition of apartheid.

Nelson Mandela talks in a press release called Message by Nelson Mandela on World
AIDS Day. Mandela was a great advocate for AIDS and was very influential in treatments. He
speaks about how far we had come to the date of the speech in 2006. Although it did provide
good information on the causes Mandela supports, I did not find it useful for my project and have
not used it.

Nelson Mandela in his inauguration speech states Mandelas plan of action for his
presidency. In his speech, he uses inspirational quotes and motivation. In order to show his plan
of action, he persuades all people the in the status quo there is a problem then addresses how to
fix it. For example, Mandela states that Let there be justice for all. Let there be peace for all. Let
there be work, bread, water, and salt for all (Mandela). This evidence suggests that he want
peace and justice which we dont currently have.

personal opinions. Mandela in his speech discusses solutions for the problems and motivation.
For example Mandela states that Our march toward freedom is irreversible. We must not allow
fear to stand in our way. (Mandela). This evidence suggests that he will do anything to
accomplish his hopes.

information the author starts at his birth and continues to his death. For example, the article
describes his time in prison. He states the Mandela was in political imprisonment for 27 years.

World History, in the article Nelson Mandela states that Mandela was a good man with
many achievements in his lifetime, even though he had many obstacles in his way. World History
in their article explains Mandelas achievements. In order to explain Mandelas achievements the
author must include background stories of how he got to his achievements. For example, the
author says that Mandela was on track to become chief of his tribe but after his father died, he
was sent to Methodist boarding school. (ABC-CLIO). This evidence suggests that Mandela had
good things coming to him but he decided to fight for his rights.

The British Broadcasting Company states in their article titled, Nelson Mandela 19182013 that Nelson Mandela was a very busy man that was involved in many things. The article
advocates Mandelas involvement in many things. For example, Mandela became one of the
ANCs deputy presidents in 1952 (BBC). This evidence suggests that Mandela had a very busy
life trying to impact equality in Africa.

Nelson Mandela is his speech, Nelson Mandela gathers support to Abolish Apartheid
states that the people of South Africa need to stand together to abolish apartheid. Mandela in his
article states that we need to work together. In order to work together, we must get to know each
other better. For example he states that, No one party over another. We need a common victory.
If we all work together we will get this done faster (Mandela). This evidence suggests that we
need to work together as equals to get this done quickly.

The History Channel, in the article Nelson Mandela Inaugurated opinionates that
Mandela was not given fair treatment in court and prison. In the article by the History channel, it
goes into detail about his actual prison life. In order to illustrate his prison life the author
includes details form Mandela himself. For example, the author states that He was confined to a
small cell without a bed or plumbing and was forced to do hard labor in a quarry (History
Channel). This evidence suggests that Mandela had a terrible life in prison with hard work.
