INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL
REOURCES
Natural resources occur naturally within environments
Natural resources is often characterized by amounts of
biodiversity and geo diversity existent in various ecosystem
Any material which is part of earth and satisfy human need
and add value is called as resource. Example rocks, minerals,
soil, rivers, plant and animal.

TYPES OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Biotic: Resources which are living in nature Example:
Forest , Animals etc.
A Biotic: Resources which are living in non-nature .
Example: Air, Water etc.

FOREST
A forest is a complex ecosystem which is predominantly
composed of trees, shrubs and is usually a closed canopy.
Forest are storehouses of a large variety of life forms such
as plants, mammals, birds, insects and reptiles etc..
Moist tropical forest:
a) Wet evergreen
b) Semi-evergreen
c) Moist deciduous
d) Littoral and swamp

LAND
CAUSES OF LAND POLLUTION:
1) Deforestation and soil erosion
2) Agricultural activities
3) Mining activities
4) Overcrowded landfills

EFFECTS OF LAND POLLUTION:

1. Soil Pollution
2. Change in Climate patterns
3. Environmental impact
4. Effect on human health

AIR
Air pollution are organic compounds from vegetation, ground dust,
salt spray from oceans, hydrogen sulfides from natural sources,
cosmic dust etc.
Causes of air Pollution:
1. Emission from industries and manufacturing activities
2. Burning Fossil Fuels

WATER
Resources includes lakes, rivers, streams, ice pack, ground water,
precipitation and oceans.
Residential water use includes drinking, cleaning, personal hygiene,
lawn care and car washing
Commercial and Industrial sectors, most water is used for
processing products.

MINERALS
Minerals are the building blocks of rocks. They are non-living,
solid, and like all matter, are made of atoms of elements. They
are many different types of minerals and each type is made of
particular groups of atoms.
Production Trends
Metallic Minerals
Non-Metallic Minerals
