Concepts Involved: Market Tracking Assignment
Learning Objectives: To help the students become familiar with the current trends in
financial markets, they are expected to keep a record of key financial data. This data
collection process and finally examining it to draw meaning out of it will in turn help to
enhance the inductive reasoning process of the students.
Narrative: The students will be required to read Business Section of a daily newspaper
or a specialised Business Newspaper. They will be asked to locate the segment where
share prices of important stock exchanges are given.
They are then required to work in groups and select any five companies (of a particular
industry) and record their share prices everyday for a period of three weeks.
The students will observe their price movement and see how major events in the
economic, political or social environment affect the prices of these shares. They will
critically examine the reasons for the same and draw conclusions. The students will then
be required to predict the future price direction of the stock selected. On the basis of
future price prediction, they will act as a Portfolio manager and comment upon the
strategy to be adopted in relation to the investment in that particular stock.
The students will finally on the basis of their analysis, recommend whether to BUY,
HOLD or SELL that stock.

Concepts Involved: Mutual Funds

Learning Objectives: To help the candidates in becoming familiar with the current
trends of Mutual Funds, they are expected to keep a record of key information related to
mutual funds. There will be a comparative analysis of the top 5 Competitive Plans.
