Chartwells-Thompson School Dining Services is a strategic partnership between Chartwells and
Thompson Hospitality, the largest minority-owned foodservice company in North America. We
have provided foodservice management for Duval County Public Schools since June 2009.
A one-time $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2015-2016 academic year to one student
each from Frank H. Peterson Academies, Sandalwood High and Terry Parker High who continue
on to post-secondary education in a culinary or hospitality program of study.
Scholarship deadline: April 24, 2015
Scholarships post-marked after April 24, 2015 will be returned to the sender with no action taken

Eligibility: Scholarship is open to high school seniors in the culinary programs at Frank H.
Peterson Academies, Terry Parker or Sandalwood High Schools who intend to pursue post
secondary education in a culinary or hospitality program. 1 winner from each school will receive
a $1,000 scholarship to be applied towards their post secondary education.
Requirements:
2.5 GPA and above
Provide a copy of official transcript
Submission of essay (1000 words or less)
Acceptance into a post secondary institution with the intent to enroll in a post-secondary
culinary or hospitality program

Essay:
With the rise of cooking shows and The Food Network, the culinary and hospitality industry has
received an increased amount of interest. Both industries are broad and offer opportunities in
many different fields (e.g. schools, colleges/universities, stadiums, hotels, restaurants, business
dining, catering, opening a private shop, etc). Please discuss the field within the culinary or
hospitality industries that interests you the most and what qualities you possess that will help you
earn success in your chosen field.
