The Digital Divide

THIS

IS AN ECONOMIC INEQUALITY BETWEEN GROUPS OR

SOCIETIES OR AREAS OF THE HUMAN WORLD SUCH AS
COUNTRIES WHERE TECHNOLOGICAL USE, ACCESS AND
KNOWLEDGE VARIES ACCORDINGLY.
THE

GLOBAL DIGITAL DIVIDE DESIGNATES NATIONS AS THE

UNITS OF ANALYSIS AND EXAMINES THE GAP BETWEEN
DEVELOPING AND DEVELOPED COUNTRIES ON AN
INTERNATIONAL SCALE.

The concept of the digital divide is obtained by using these

guides:
Subjects of connectivity, or who connects the individuals,
organizations, enterprises, schools, hospitals, countries.
Characteristics of connectivity, or which attributes: demographic
and socio-economic variables, such as income, education, age,
geographic location and many others.
Means of connectivity, fixed or mobile, Internet, digital TV, etc.
Intensity of connectivity, or how sophisticated is the usage: mere
access, retrieval, interactivity or innovative contributions.
Purpose of connectivity, or why individuals are or not
connecting.

Ease of access

This refers to the ability of an individual to

be able to actively gain way into a service,
network or any other accessible entities.
It Is widely debated about the ability to
access free information since there is
always a string or two attached.
In its relation to computers the term is
widely used to assess the functionality of
various software's and technologies that
influence human livelihood and
development.

Ease of access varies sparingly and

greatly depending of what area of the
world one is in. it decreases as one
moves from the west of the world to the
east as the need for services is less as
one closes in on the central part of the
world.
