GENERAL PLANNING MATERIALS FOR ALL CATEGORIES: (These materials are


meant to be used in the planning process and are not meant to replace any of the
materials listed for specific long-term and onsite prompts.) Sketch Paper. Pencil.
Eraser. Ruler. Tape. Scissors.
MATERIAL LISTS: The intent of each of the material lists is to show students what
can be used in each category. Some categories have a list of materials that the
students can choose from, while some are specific in that all of the materials on the
list will need to be used. Students CANNOT use materials that are not listed. Those
students who choose to use materials not on the list will be disqualified. Room
supervisors will be looking at the materials students bring with them to the onsite
rooms. Students will be warned if they have materials not on the list. If students
choose to ignore the warning they will be disqualified.

DRAWING:
Materials 18 x 24 white drawing paper. Up to $5.00 worth of items/objects from a thrift store that center on
the theme of earth, wind, or fire and the receipt for items purchased. Variety of charcoal, erasers,
chamois cloth, and blending stumps. Clean up materials. Printed image of your long-term project.
Receipt should be attached to your 4 x 6 explanation card.

PAINTING:
Materials 15 - 6 x 6 watercolor papers. 8 x 10 minimum color printed images of 4 of your source photos
used from your long-term project. Watercolor paint, watercolor brushes, resist/frisket, tape,
painting board, container for water. Clean up materials.

PRINTMAKING:
Materials Minimum of 5 extra prints of long term print. Minimum of 5 10 x 10 printing papers. 8 x 8 EZ
cut, wood block, linoleum, glass or plexi glass for monoprinting, tools for cutting, various colors of
water-based ink, brayers, inking surface, barren or other tool to pull prints, and cleanup materials.

judges.

CERAMICS:
Materials 12 x 12 piece of heavy cardboard, masonite or plywood. Kiln fired clay, clay modeling tools,
rolling pin, ruler, cloth covered board to work on, water container, and cleanup materials. Bring
your fired clay stamps used in your Long-term project.

SCULPTURE:
Materials Found natural materials, cardboard, yarn, string, wire, twine, basket weaving reed, fibers, tools for
cutting and manipulating materials, needles, gloves, container for water (to soak reed), and clean
up materials.
* 2 photographs from different angles of your long-term solution printed on one 8 x 11 paper
to be left with judges.

ART HISTORY:
Materials String/thread/yarn, wire, sticks/dowels, decorative paper, fabric, fibers, cardboard, foam core,
modeling clay, xacto knife, cutting mat, needles, scissors, wire cutter, needle nose pliers. glue,
variety non-traditional materials and found objects, and the tools needed to manipulate them.

PERSONAL ADORNMENT:
Materials Variety of metals, wire, clay, self-hardening clay, polymer clay, fabric, fibers, strings, yarn, natural
objects, cardboard, foam core, jewelry fasteners & hardware, paper, glass, recycled materials,
variety of pliers, non-toxic adhesive, metal manipulating tools, and scissors.

TRADITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY:
Materials 18 x 20 matte board, non-toxic glue, scissors, exacto knife, cutting mat, a minimum of six 8 x
10 copies of your long term image printed in the darkroom, several photocopies of your longterm photo, test strips and darkroom products (excess and test prints, etc.).

COMPUTER GRAPHIC DESIGN:


Materials Computer, tablet, editing program, digital camera, transfer cord or card reader for your camera,
flash drive with your schools name on it, extension cord. * All saved graphics, logos, and images
that you used for your Long Term solution on your computer.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY:
Materials:
Digital camera, transfer cord or card reader, tripod, laptop, saved files/.jpgs from long-term project
as well as those photographs taken but not used in final project, computer photo manipulation
and editing software, and a flash drive with your name and school name attached securely to the
drive.

VIDEO:
Materials Video equipment, tripod, computer/laptop, editing software of your choice, access to a variety of
15 - 30 second music clips. SAVE YOUR CUT SCENES ON YOUR COMPUTER OR FLASH
DRIVE FOR FUTURE USE. * Reminder - music clips on video cannot be longer than 30 second
segments (copyright laws).

Critical Thinking:
Materials Listen to and make/bring a copy of Earth, Wind & Fires Song - Shining Star. Device to play and
manipulate song as needed, scissors, tape, non-toxic markers, scrap paper, and a 10 roll of
paper that is 2 to 3 wide.
