PASTORS NOTES
This Sunday, our Readings have been chosen to make us
enter into the season of Lent with some proper attitudes
that will help us prepare and practice well the traditional
Catholic season of Lent.
One of the essential attitudes needed is a desire to be
CLEAN. The Readings from the Old Testament and the
New Testament, speak about leprosy, which was considered one of the most demoralizing unclean sicknesses
that any one could contract.
In the first Reading, Moses gives instructions about how
lepers need to behave and what they need to do, so they
do not spread their uncleanness to others.
In the Gospel, Jesus heals a leper who pleaded with him
for mercy and restoration of his good health. However Jesus also gave him instructions as to what he needed to do,
to be completely healed. He was to show himself to the
priest who alone would declare him clean and make an
offering to God..
In the Second Reading, Saint Paul encourages the Christians to imitate him, as he imitates Christ. The best form of
imitation would be to do everything with a clean heart for
the greater glory of God. Our lesson is clear. We are all
unclean. We need to clean ourselves. We need to follow
the regulations prescribed for us. And we must do it all
with clean hearts and minds. We are given forty days for
it.
I would like to thank all those who have personally
wished me and prayed for me on my Birthday. I turned 67
on February 13th. Thank you all for your love and
prayers. Fr Sebastian

Stations of the Cross at 7 PM.
On February 20 and every Friday of Lent, we will have Stations of the Cross at 7 PM.
Announcements/News
1. We begin the Lenten Season on Ash
Wednesday. Please pay good attention to
the rules and regulations of our Church
during Lent. Our faithful practice of
these regulations will assure us a good
and fruitful Lenten Season.
2. I had a very fruitful journey to Pohnpei. I
enjoyed the quiet and peaceful island nation and its very friendly people. We
have nearly a hundred Pohnpeians in our
Church Community. The history of
Pohnpei is very interesting. When colonization started they had first the Germans,
then the Spaniards and finally the Americans. Over half the population is Catholic.
3. Please pray that we can buy the Property
at 811 Main Street, which used to be the
Episcopal St George Pre-School. It has a
Church that can seat 200+, a Pre-School facility for 100+ children, a Parking Lot and
Priests Residence. We can make good use of
the space and facilities for the Academy, for
our Parish and Diocesan needs.

CATECHISM
REVELATION
A. The truths that God has revealed are found in SACRED SCRIPTURES and SCARED
TRADITION
B. Sacred Tradition is the unwritten word of God given by Christ through the Holy Spirit
to the Apostles and handed down to their successors.
C. Sacred Tradition is revealed in the creeds, liturgy and prayers of the Church and to the
authentic teachings of the Popes and the Bishops.
D. Before the New Testament was written down it was transmitted orally and was part of
Sacred Tradition
E. The Gospel of Mark was written about 35 years after Jesus died. Mathew was written
about 40 years after Christ. Luke about 45 years after Christ and John nearly 60 years
after Christ.
F. There are seventy-three books in the whole Bible, which is divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Bible is the basic source of teaching in the Catholic
Church
G. The Books of the Old Testament contain the Revelation of God made to men and women
who lived before Christ.
H. The Books of the New Testament contain words and deeds of Christ, the teachings of the
Apostles, and their works in the early Church.
Next week, we shall speak about the New Testament.
