Buddhism Basics
A former Hindu, Siddhartha Gautama, was
the founder of the religion, Buddhism,
which started in India.
Later, when he began to teach what he
had learned, he was called Buddha and
his followers are Buddhists.
Buddhists do not believe in any gods
Many Indians welcomed Buddhism
because Buddhist teachings did not
support the caste system, while Hinduism
DID support the caste system.

to give up all worldly desires.

to follow to give up all worldly desires.
Buddhists believe that upon giving up
all worldly desires, people will reach
Nirvana, a state of eternal happiness.
