WHAT TO DO
Download version 4.08 Firmware from (drivers site) and download
to the PE 120 through the Control Centre program following these
directions.
Note: All counts will be reset to zero, all defaults will be reset to
factory defaults and all phonebooks will be cleared.

Use CentreWare Internet Services to update the firmware:


1.

Open CWIS and click on the Maintenance tab.

Enter the username and password (default username: admin)


(default password: 1111).

3.

Click on Firmware Upgrade on the upper, left of the window,


ensure Machine Firmware Download is selected, then click
Browse to browse to and select the firmware update file
(rom_Rocky2_Xerox.hd).

4.

Click the Upgrade button to send the firmware update to the


machine.

1. Unzip file to a location you can remember, the desktop is good.


2. Click successively on Start / Programs / Xerox WC PE120 Series /
Control Centre.
3. Click on firmware update tab.
4. Browse to the location the file was unzipped to and click on it.
5. Click open.
6. Click update in the firmware update window. Update
progress will be displayed in the firmware update window. The
printers display will show Program Update Please Wait

After 30-60 seconds, the computer will display a message stating the
update is complete. IT WILL TAKE AN ADDITIONAL 30-60
seconds after this message before it is actually complete. The PE120's
front panel will display Program Upgrade, Please Wait. Once the
update is complete, the PE120 will automatically reboot.

After the machine has rebooted, the display screen will show the set
date and time screen. Walk the customer through setting the date
and time. Once the date and time is set, verify the firmware update
was successful:
1.

Press the Menu button until 7. Report is displayed.

2.

Press the right arrow button until System Data is displayed.

3.

Press Enter to print the System Data List.

The Firmware/Engine version will be displayed towards the bottom


of the System Data List and will display version 4.08 if the update
was successful.

FAX quits auto answering


Version 4.11 Firmware Release
SYMPTOMS
This Service Bulletin supercedes SF 221. PE 120s that had been
receiving Faxs automatically, unexpectedly quit auto answering.

CAUSE
A software conflict between FAX auto answer and scanning to USB
causes of this problem. In version 4.07 (launch) firmware, when the

SCAN button is depressed on the front panel, the FAX auto


answer function is inhibited indefinitely until either the scan is
completed or the scanning job is cancelled. In version 4.11
firmware this conflict has been resolved.
WHAT TO DO
Upload version 4.11 Firmware from one of the links below to your
computer and then, using the Control Centre program, download
the update via USB to the PE 120 or via CentreWare IS over an
Ethernet connection following the appropriate directions.
Note: All counts will be reset to zero, all defaults will be reset
to factory defaults and all phonebooks will be cleared.
For Windows applications with the PE 120 connected over USB,
download the file at this URL then follow the instructions below:

1. Unzip the file to a location such as the Desktop.


2. Launch Control Centre.
a. Click the windows Start menu.
b. Highlight Programs
c. Highlight Xerox WC PE120 Series
d. Highlight Control Centre.
3. Click on firmware update tab.
4. Browse to the location the file was unzipped to and click on it.
5. Click open within the Control Centre window.
6. Click Update in the firmware update window. Update progress
will be displayed in the firmware update window. The printers
display will show Program Update Please Wait
7. A small window with update complete will appear
superimposed on the firmware update tab. Wait until Program
Update Please Wait disappears from the PE 120 front panel
display. Once the update is complete the machine will
automatically reboot and the display will show the set date and
time screen.
8. Print the System data sheet from the front panel menu to verify
the Firmware/Engine Version has been upgraded to version 4.11.
a. Press the Menu button until 7. Report is displayed.
b. Press the right arrow button to scroll to System Data.
c. Press enter to print the System Data report
d. Verify that the Engine/Firmware version (near the
bottom of the sheet) has been changed to 4.11

Use CentreWare Internet Services to update the firmware:


1. Open CentreWare Internet Services:
a. Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer.
b. Enter the machine's IP address in the browser's Address bar
and press Enter or Return.
Note: The machine's IP address can be found on the
machines Connection Page. To print the
Connection Page from the machine, press the
Menu button until Network Setup is displayed.
Press the Right Arrow button until Print Net CFG
is displayed and then press Enter. 'Print Net CFG
Yes' will be displayed. Press Enter.

3. Press Enter to print the System Data List.


The Firmware/Engine version will be displayed towards the bottom
of the System Data List and will display version 4.11 if the update
was successful.

2. Once the CWIS homepage is displayed, click on the Maintenance


tab.
3. Enter the username and password.
Note: The default username is admin and the default password
is 1111. If the username and password is unknown, contact the
System Administrator.

ensure Machine Firmware Download is selected, then click

(R2X_V4.11_ROM_SMD.hd).
5. Click the Upgrade button to send the firmware update to the
machine.

After 30 to 60 seconds, the computer will display a message stating


the update is complete. It will take an additional 30 to 60 seconds
after this message before the update is actually complete. The
machines front panel will display Program Upgrade, Please Wait.
Once the update is complete, the machine will automatically reboot.

12) Modified exception case of CCD moving at home.

Once the machine has rebooted, the display screen will show the set
date and time screen: Enter the correct date and time using the
numeric keypad. Once the date and time is set, verify the firmware
update was successful:
1. Press the Menu button until 7. Report is displayed.
2. Press the right arrow button until System Data is displayed.
