Learning Objectives: In Unit 4- The students will be able to:
Acquire knowledge and foster creativity concerning advertising and graphic design
Develop ideas for works of art by brainstorming, conducting research, and making preliminary
sketches
Use their imagination and experiences to inform their art making
Use the elements of artline, shape, form, color, value, texture, and spaceto express ideas
Use the principles of design, including proportion, rhythm, balance, emphasis, variety, contrast, and
unity, to express ideas and create art with various materials
Activities/Projects/Connections:
How we organize ourselves Unit of inquiry- Function: Students will study various elements of advertising
and graphic design and discuss their function in the world around us. They will design their own slogans,
banners, and products for their individual exhibitions in the souk market they will be developing on in their
homeroom class.
Music
Learning Objectives: In Unit 4- The students will be able to:
Compose and play recorder pieces with a partner
Play and read notes B, A, G, C and D in different rhythms on the recorder
Understand musical elements like tempo and dynamics
Read and perform sixteenth note (tika-tika) rhythms on the recorder
Activities/Projects/Connections:
Play songs like Rocky City and Bransle de Champ in harmony
Sight read measures on the recorder in the game Roll and Read
Composer Study: Ludwig van Beethoven
Rhythm Rush- speed reading and recognition of rhythms
P.E.
Learning Objectives: In Unit 4- The students will be able to:
Understand that in adventure challenges we use a range of physical and critical thinking skills
individually or in groups.
Apply many IB transdisciplinary skills, while displaying IB learner profiles and attitudes.
Work together collaboratively while recognizing the role of the individual within a group.
Develop leadership skills within the adventure challenges and undertake point to point orienteering
tasks.
Activities/Projects/Connections:
Individual challenges such as obstacle courses.
Small group and team building tasks, such as cross the river.
Point to point orienteering tasks becoming familiar with map reading.
