NAME OF STUDENT TEACHER

The purpose of this agreement is to safeguard and maximise the benefits for all parties concerned
by setting clear guidelines and procedures for administering the centre-based work experience
component of our programmes.

WORK EXPERIENCE
ln this field-based programme you are required to be working in an early childhood
centre in a voluntary or paid capacity for a minimum of 12 hours per week (child
contact time) over the course of the year. Your continuing attendance is essential to
your progression through the programme.

The purpose of work experience is to allow you to apply theory to practice and generate theory
from practice. The centre must provide you with opportunities for observation, planning, reflection,
integration of theory and practice and achievement of teaching competencies under supervision.
The role of the centre support person is critical in ensuring that you participate fully in centre life.
This involves providing feedback to you on your involvement and facilitating your learning in the
centre.
