INTRODUCTION
Theproblemthatweattemptedtoconquerwiththedesignofthisexperimentisthe
viscosity.Weattemptedtofindthemostperfectandmostaestheticallypleasingviscosityof
shampoofordailyhygieneuses.Weattemptedtofindaviscositythatisnottoorunnynorto
thick.
MATERIALSANDMETHODS
Thematerialsthatweusedtotestthisexperimentwas1bottleofDoveshampoo,1
bottleofAxeshampoo,1bottleofPanteneshampoo,a45degreerampthatsafootlong,and
astopwatch.Themethodthatweusedtotestourquestionisthatweplacedacertainamount
ofeachbrandofshampooontothetopoftherampandtimedwithastopwatchhowlongit
tookforthesubstancetoreachthemidwaypointoftheramp.Alltheamountsplacedonthe
rampswerethesame.Wethenrecordedtheresultsontoourtable.
RESULTS
Aftertestingtheviscosityofeachofthethreebrands,weconcludedwithwhichoneis
thethinnestandwhichoneisthethickest.Basedofthetimes,theresultsshowedthat
PantenewasthethinnestshampooandAxewasthethickestshampoo.

DISCUSSION
Afterreviewingtheresultsofthetest,ourgrouphadconcludedthatwebelievethatthe
Doveshampooisthebestfitforthestandardpopulationwhenjudgingshampoosbasedoff
theviscosityofthem.ThereasoningbehindourchoiceisthatthePanteneshampoowas
simplytoorunnyformostanditwaspleasingwhenapplyingtohair.Ontheotherhand,Axe
wastoothickofashampoo,webelieveformostpeople,itmightbeinefficientforuse
becauseofthedifficultyforspreadingit.WebelievethatDovewouldbetheperfectchoice
becauseitwillbefairlyeasytospreadonyourheadbutitwon'tbetoorunnytothepointthat
itwilldripoffbeforegettingachancetolather.


Test2:Foaminess

INTRODUCTION
Theproblemthatweattemptedtoresolveinthecreationofthistestwastodetermine
whichshampooinconsiderationwasthebestchoicejudgingstrictlyonthefoaminessofit.
Wewanttofindthebestfitforabroadselectionofconsumersthatusetheproductdaily.
Selectivefactorsarenotintoconsiderationwhenconductingthisexperiment.
MATERIALSANDMETHODS
Thematerialsthatwereincludingintheprocedureofthisexperimentareabottleof
Doveshampoo,abottleofAxeshampoo,abottleofPanteneshampoo,3500mLbeakers,a
50mLgraduatedcylinder,ruler,andastirrod.Theprocedurewasthatwewouldhavethe
sameamountofwaterineachbeaker.Thenwewouldaddathesameamountofeach
shampooinadifferentbeaker,thenwewouldstirtheshampoointothewaterforabout10
seconds.Witharulerthenwewouldmeasuretheheightofthebubblegrowthineachbeaker
andrecordourresults.Wedidthissameexperimenton3differenttrials,eachtrialwitha
differentconcentrationofeachsubstance.Werecordedourresultsforthosetrialsalso.
RESULTS
TheresultsofthisexperimentprovedthattheDoveMensCareshampooisthe
foamiestoutofallthe3differentbrandsofshampootestedon.Comparingtheresultsfrom
thethirdtrialrecorded,Dovecreatefoam10mmhigh.Thesecondfoamiestoutofthe3
resultedtobethePanteneshampoo.Pantenerecordafoam6mmhighonthethird.The
shampoothatwastheleastfoamiestistheAxeshampoo.Axecreatedafoamthatrose5mm
highonthethirdtrialoftesting.

DISCUSSION
ThesestatisticsmeanthatthebestchoiceforpeopleisDoveofyourlookingforstrictly
thefoaminessoftheproduct.Ourreasoningbehindourchoiceisthatmostpeopleusuallylike
tohaveareallyfoamyshampoosowebelievedthattheDoveshampooisthebestchoice.
Wedidnotconsiderotherfactorsformtheshampoosuchassafetyinthisdecision.

Test#3:StickinessAbility

INTRODUCTION
Theproblemthatweattemptedtoconquerwiththedesignofthisexperimentisthe
stickiness.weputtwopiecesofpapertogetherwithagluemadeofshampoowiththree
differenttypesofshampooaxe,dove,pantene.Thenwetestedtoseewhichshampoolasted
thelongestasaglue.

horizontallineacrossthemiddleofthepaper,step3:takeanotherpieceofprinterpaperthe
samesizeasthefirst,step4:linethepaperparalleltothefirst,step5:stickthetopofthe
paperonthelineofshampoo,step6:holdthefirstpaperbythecornersintheair,step7:
recordtimeittakesforsecondpapertopartwithfirstpaper,step8:repeatwithotherchoices
ofshampoo(Theshampoowiththelongesttimeholdsthemoststickiness,andtheshampoo
withtheshortesttimeistheleaststicky),step9:compareandcontrastdata.
RESULTS
Aftertestingthestickinessofeachofthethreebrands,weconcludedwithwhichoneis
thestickiest.Basedofthetimes,theresultsshowedthatAxewasthestickiestshampooand
thatdovewastheleaststicky.Axedidn'tmoveafter2daysinclasswehadtotakeitdown
noneofthemactuallycameapartbutsomepaperssliddownmorethanotherssotheywere
closertocomingapartbutnoneofthemactuallydidcomeapart.

Afterconductingthisexperimentwehaveconcludedthatifyouwantastickshampoo
gowithaxe.ButifyouwantashampoothatisnotverystickthengowithDove.SoformeI
woulduseDovebecasueIdontlikeitwhenmyshampooisstickyandwithdoveitistheleast
stickyIwouldneverthinkaboutaxebecausethestickynessshowwaslikeagluetype
substance.ButeveryoneisdifferentbutifIwastorecommendoneIwouldrecommendDove
outoftheotherthreeIthinkDoveisthebestone.

Test4:Fragrance

INTRODUCTION
Duringourtimewerealizedthatwhatwewantinashampooisanexcellentsmell.
Althoughtherearedifferentvariationsofsmellsanduniquefragrances,wewantedtosee
whichonewasthemostappealingandmorefavorableamongcustomers.Wefiguredthatthe
morefavorableshampoowouldmostlikelybeboughtbycustomers.Wethenaskedthe
question:Whichshampoowouldsmellthebest?
MATERIALSANDMETHODS
Forourexperimentweusedourchoiceofthreedifferentshampoosandtendifferent
individuals.Foreachonewedecidedtoletthemsmelloneallthreeoftheshampoosandrate
theirfavoritetoleastfavorite(13).TheshampoosweusedwereAxe,Dove,andPantene.
Aftergoingaroundandaskingtendifferentindividuals,wepostedourresultsbelow.

Afterlookingatourdata,wefoundthatpantenewasthemostfavorableshampoo,
havingamodeof1(1=mostfavorable).
DISCUSSION
Thismeansthatthisproductwillbelikelytosellmorebecauseofhowfavoredthe
smellisamongpeopleingeneral.ThesecondmostfavorablesmellingshampoowasDove
withamodeof2.Theleastfavorablechoicewasaxewithamodeof3.Whenitcomestoa
customer'schoice,thecustomerchoosesashampoothatwillgivethemafragrance

appealingtothemandothers.Sointermsofthephysicalsenses,Panteneisthegreatest
choice.
Test5:MoisturizingFactor
INTRODUCTION
Formoisturizingfactorwewantedtounderstandwhichshampoowasableto
penetratetheskinmoreandbemoreeffectiveatdiggingdownallthewaypastthehairtothe
scalp.Wedecidedthatashampoowithareallyeffectivemoisturizingabilitywasmore
favorable,beingabletoaffectallregionsofthehairaswellasthehumanscalpwhereits
nutrientscanalsospreadtotheskin.Wewantedashampoothatwasabletohavea
extremelywellmoisturizingfactor.
MATERIALSANDMETHODS
Wedecidedtotestmoisturizationbyconductinganexperiment.Thisexperimentwas
totesthowwelleachshampoocouldflowdeepdownpastthehairaswellashowfaritcould
penetratethescalp.Thematerialsusedinthisexperimentwere:three50mlbeakers,many
tissues,aruler,andourchoiceofthreedifferentshampoos.Wedenselypackedeachbeaker
withtissuesthen,pouredourchoiceofshampoointoeachbeaker.Threedifferentshampoos
inthreedifferentbeakers.Afterthatwehadwaitedanequaltimeforeachshampootosettle
inthebeaker,thenmeasurehowfareachshampootraveledfromthefarthestpoint.Then
fromlookingattheresults,decidewhichshampoohasthegreatestmoisturizingabilitybased
onhowdeepashampootraveledthroughthedenselypackedtissuesinthebeaker.
RESULTS
Wehadfoundoutthatrelativelythisexperimentmayhavemadesense,butmaynot
bethemostappropriateexperimenttotestthemoisturizingfactorofshampoo.Althoughwhen
itcametodataandfindingoutwhichshampooisbestinthiscategory(basedonthis
experiment),weusedourdatatojudge.

DISCUSSION

Basedonourdataandthisexperiment,thismeansthatAxepenetratedthemostand
isprobablytheshampoowiththegreatestmoisturizingability.Wemayneedmoreaccurate
testingtofindout.Whatweknowfromthisisthatwhenlayeredwithtissues,Axewasknown
topenetrateveryfar,andthismayalsorelatetotheviscosityexperimentaswell.Axewas
knowntohavetheleastviscosity,thusbeingabletomovequickerandperhapsspreading
fasteraswell.Thesecharacteristicshelpespeciallywhentryingtoflowthroughadense
cylinderoftissues.
