OPENING STAFF MEETING 2014

be explicitly clear about our path toward

COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS AMONGST GRADE LEVELS

(GRADE LEVEL GOALS)
All Bemis grade levels set
goals
Are the goals clearly
defined?
Do we follow up?
Do we have a plan of
action?
Do we have the necessary
resources (time/money) to

STUDENT GROWTH GOAL

(CLASSROOM LEVEL GOALS)

We support each other in trying to accomplish this building wide growth goal
but the outcome is dependent on what happens in each individual classroom.
Teachers have the opportunity to opt in or out.

PERSONAL GOALS FOR STUDENTS

(STUDENT GOALS)
Student goal setting happens all
the time at Bemis. However it is
handled differently by each
individual teacher.
Are the student goals clearly
defined?
Do we follow up with the
students?
Do we have a plan of action for
our students?

SYNERGY - THE CREATION OF A WHOLE THAT IS

GREATER THAN THE SIMPLE SUM OF ITS PARTS.

SHARE YOUR THREE GRADE LEVEL GOALS

AS YOU LISTEN TO YOUR GRADE LEVEL PEERS THINK ABOUT THE COMMON THEMES AMONGST ALL OF THE GOALS
MENTIONED

COLLECTIVELY DEVELOP A GOAL FOR YOUR GRADE LEVEL

BASED ON ANY COMMON THEMES WHAT MIGHT BE A REASONABLE GOAL FOR YOUR TEAM?

COLLECTIVELY DEFINE THE GOAL FOR YOUR GRADE LEVEL

Specific - A specific goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a general
goal. To set a specific goal you must answer the six W questions:
*Who:Who is involved?
*What:
*Where:

What do you need to accomplish this goal? (time, funding, etc.)

Identify a location.

*When:Establish a time frame.

*Which:Identify requirements and constraints.
*Why:Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of accomplishing the goal.
*3C's:

How does your goal meet the 3C's for your team?
Connection/Collaboration/Commitment.

EXAMPLE: A general goal would be, Get in shape. But a specific goal would say, I will join a
health club and workout 3 days a week so I can lose 10 pound in the next month.
