GBP Proposal

Introduction/Background: We are going to build and LED

Disco Floor. The main concept of this project is a floor that is lit up
through LED lights and it has different designs and sizes based on how
we set it up through the program. This will change the algorithm of the
lights.

Purpose/Objectives:

Things that we are going to learn from

building this project are: How to set up a circuit, installing the wires,
learning how to use/program with an Arduino. The objective is to make
a fun interactive LED discofloor/table. You should consider letting us do
this as a culminating because it will test our ability to assemble and
wire and program.

Project Scope and Possible Execution:

This project
is not going to be easy. It is feasible, but it is going to be rather time
consuming and everyone is going to need to do their part in this
project. This is a more developed idea from what a girl did last year.
She made a table, which had basic lighting and movement. Our project
accomplishes more than that. It is a floor, but it moves in more than
one way and has many different designs in it.

Timelines:

Week 1- Order parts, Set up rough draft of the layout.

Week 2- Assemble wood frame and apply lights
Weeks 3-4-Wiring the circuit for the lights
Week 5-Programming of circuit and finishing

touches.

Budget/Resources:
($24.00) Arduino Uno ATmega328 MCU Board Rev 3
($4.84) Arduino Proto Shield Rev3 (PCB)
($3.50) RS 1m Cable Assembly USB A to USB B
($3.95) Breadboard - Mini Modular
($2.85) Ritrama Translucent Self Adhesive Vinyl

Polycarbonate Lexan Margart (Havent got best deal yet)

($5.00) 4 Colours 4 Pin 4 Wire Lighting Extension Cable LED RGB
Strip Light 3528
5050 UK (EBay)
Total Budget: ($250) or $67.50 Each.
If we can find a buyer we are going to sell it, if not we are going
to donate it to Mr. Perry and the class.

Ties In To Curriculum:
A1.1:

It falls this category in the curriculum because it will run off of

a computer running Jinx

A3.2:

It falls this category in the curriculum because our project

includes circuitry, and an input devices.

B3.1:

It falls this category in the curriculum because our project

includes CAD and circuit simulation software to design circuits.

B5.3:

It falls this category in the curriculum because our project

includes an interactive design process that can interact with music.

D3.1:

It falls this category in the curriculum because our project lets

us practice circuitry/programming/ coding which could lead to further
career opportunities.

Possible Complications/Challenges:

Some of the
potential challenges that we are going to face when doing this project
are; having issues when wiring through the circuit, setting up all the
LEDs and making sure that they work. We also might run into a
problem with programming the Arduino and the patterns on the LED
lights.
