PITCH IT!

OBJECTIVE: Your group will create TWO ad campaigns for the same product, each targeting
a different audience.
Both campaigns have several requirements as listed below. Much of this will completed IN
CLASS; however, some work outside of the classroom is necessary.

Project Requirements: (for each target audience)


1. You will be presented with an overview of a product from a corporation from which

you will create a sketch and an original slogan.


2. Make a label and packaging (a box of sorts) for your product that has all of the
essential information for the customer (logo, slogan, product info). Make it look like a
real product that has manufacturer name, website, barcode, how to use the product,
etc. The box need not be built to scale, (i.e., a large product such as a bicycle will not
require an appropriate sized box).
3. Create outside advertisements for your product (billboard, bench ad, bus ad, etc.)
using one of the propaganda techniques we have studied.
4. Create a magazine advertisement for your product using a different technique.

5. Create a television commercial for your product.

The commercial should be


composed with a third different propaganda technique in mind. The commercial
could be presented live or be filmed and shown on the Smart board.
WHEN COMPLETE, YOU WILL HAVE SIX DIFFERENT ADVERTISEMENTS AND
WILL USE SIX DIFFERENT PROPAGANDA TECHNIQUES FOR THE TWO
TARGET AUDIENCES.
8. Plan and Present your campaign to the board of directors (the class)
o Act as if you were pitching your ad campaign to the company. You want them
to hire you to run their new ad campaign. Dress appropriately.
o Show your product packaging and product.
o What is the specific purpose of your product?
o What makes your product so special?
o Show your outdoor advertisements and magazine ads.
o Show the commercials.
o A PowerPoint presentation would help the flow of your pitch.
