interest. There could be several ways to design assignments based on the
site for upper-elementary students, but could also be shared with younger

their own roller coaster. This seems like something
that students would enjoy because it is fun but they

equipped with lots of games but also just basic
science information on the water cycle, plants,
animals, etc. There are many different links and
activities that the students can use to further their
science knowledge.

I really liked this discovery kids website because it had many different
science activities that students could do but they were all different parts
of science, not based on the same type of science. The kids could play
games or even just read about the different topics on the page. There are
also educational videos that they could watch. This site would be very
beneficial to use in my classroom.

Pinterest is one of the newest and best online resources available for
teachers and has become a favorite among educators. Through the use
of online pinboards, teachers can save everything from photos to
blog posts in one easily accessible and usable place. Pinterest provides
educators with a wealth of lessons and ideas, including grade-specific
science activities for young students that are fresh, engaging and ageappropriate. Through Pinterest, teachers can also create collaborative
boards that make it simple to work together to build better lessons
and connect over shared ideas.

It is available online and as an iPad app for K-2 grade. This resource

This site has a large collection of interactive science games focusing on
animals, plants, chemistry, biology, physics, space, magnets,
electricity, forces, light, sounds, gases or other science related topics.
Each activity not only gives the student valuable information, but also
provides interaction and the opportunity to put the knowledge to use.

This site has a vast amount of videos, activities and games that will add
to any lesson or activity and keep students actively engaged. It
includes very informative sections on animals, nature, people and
places, and space and science.

This site provides curriculum-based content geared specifically for K-5
students. The site offers a growing library of movies and interactive
features across six subjects, including science. The online resources
support educators and meet students' different learning styles and
abilities. The content includes short animated movies, leveled quizzes,
games, activities, recommended grade-appropriate reading, writing and
discussion prompts, and more. All content is aligned to and searchable
by state standards.

students to watch. I couldnt dive too far in because it requires a download of software but if it is anything
like the free portion, the download will be well worth it.

This is a good site for all classes in a general setting. This site allows a class to network in a safe and secure
setting and also allows the students to utilize their technology in a learning environment. There is a way to
capture data from the class and post it during Q&A sessions as well as other interactive features.

Discovery Education

o Discovery Communications offers this free resource to
teachers that provides free lesson plans for science and
other subjects. There are also videos, interactive games,
opportunities for funding, and lessons that focus on STEM.

o NatGeo is a free source for videos, programs, and video clips
on a variety of subjects. All of the videos are high quality.

For Students:
BrainPop and BrainPop Jr:

o BrainPop is a subscription-based, educational website that
provides videos and games explaining a variety topics from
different subject areas. The videos describe difficult
concepts in a way that is developmentally appropriate for
young students. Although you need a paid subscription,
many school systems pay for it and you can find usernames
and passwords from different schools by googling.

o Kids.gov allows students to brush up on different topics
concern environmental and earth science and to learn new
ones by watching videos and playing web games.
E-Learning for Kids

o E-Learning for Kids is a global, nonprofit organization that
offers lessons for students to learn about on their own or as
reinforcement for concepts taught in class

Great Websites for teachers:

Class Dojo- This is a wonderful website that helps with classroom


management. It includes a point system that can either be rewarded to
teams or individual students. Parents can be given access to the dojo so
that they can see how their childs behavior is in the classroom. Class dojo
can also be used to keep classroom attendance. I would use this tool in
my classroom because I have seen it used many times before and it is an
effective management tool. It keeps the students motivated and it is an
organized method for teachers to use.

Schoology- This website is specifically for instructors. Educators are


able to create interactive discussion boards for students, as well as post
and grade assignments. Schoology has a feature that allows students to
take tests and quizzes as well as write papers, in this way teachers are
able to give immediate feedback as well as give feedback to students. I
would use this tool in my classroom because it seems to be an effective
way of giving and grading assignments.

Storybird- Storybird is a website that allows for educators as well as


students to create stories. There are different pictures that can be chosen
from in order to support the story and different themes to choose from as
well. This site is great for educators that teach younger students. An
educator could create a story using the weeks vocabulary or spelling
words. Educators could have students use this site to promote student
directed writing time. I would use this tool in my classroom to promote
engaging student writing time.
Great Websites for students:

Popplet- Popplet is a site that is used to make mind maps. This


website is free and easy to use. Once the mind map is created it can be
easily shared to others. Using mind maps can help to put ideas in order
and to help organize them as well. Popplet allows for pictures to be
included in the mind map. I would suggest that my students use this web
2.0 tool because it is fun and helpful. I have personally used this tool and I
enjoy using it.

Google Docs- Google Docs is a feature that can be accessed through


Google. By using Google Docs students can write papers and create

portfolios and different folders. Students can share specific documents


with other users and work on one project together from wherever they
are. This feature is great for group projects. Students can complete tests
and quizzes via Google Docs as well. Students can create spreadsheets
and slideshows by using this feature. I feel that this is a great tool to use
with middle school and high school students. I have personally used this
tool and it is very easy to manage and it is also convenient for educators.

Prezi- This website is somewhat similar to PowerPoint. It has the


same concept except it has more features and it is a little more advanced
in style. Prezi is a nice way to present information neatly as well as use
different links and videos within the presentation. I would defiantly
encourage students to use this tool.

Science lesson plans include lesson plans on food chains, the states of
matter, rocks and soil, and many more.

This website has possible topic questions that you may have to
teach in a science class. Once you click on the question, it gives you

Teaching Science Websites:

website is a great tool for all teachers teaching any grade science class.
There are tons of lessons along with PDF version lesson plans and picture
to look at. Like the website explains, there are a lot of different things to
explore on this website from oceans to outerspace to everything in
between.
2) http://www.discoveryeducation.com/ This website is one of my
favorites because it has tons of educational videos and interactive
activities. This is a great go-to website for all teaches, especially when it
comes to science.

website has a lot of great science and technology lessons. It's really
interesting because kids can learn how to build things using this site.
There are activities that range from basic lessons about the seasons to
more advanced ones about building and engineering. It is definitely
technologically based though with a wide variety of topics.
Science Websites for Kids:

to use because it is appealing to the eye and easy to navigate. It is mainly
geared towards science lessons but also has some math lessons
incorporated. Students can play games, read about, or take quizzes on
certain lesson topics.

engaging one for kids of all ages. It has fun facts for different topics,
games, experiments, and even quizzes. There are many different topics
the students can choose from and then from there they can choose what
game to play, experiment to do, or fun facts to learn about.

3) http://www.tryscience.org/home.html This website is another really


exciting one for young learners and science. This website involves actually
going on virtual field trips! You can see videos and do experiments on
certain science topics. Kids would definitely have a lot of fun with this site
and really get to experience the world right inside the classroom.
