Constant power factor control In this mode the operating power factor of the synchronous motor can be set at a constant value (within the rated power factor value of the machine). As the load is changed or as system conditions change the excitation control automatically compensates so that the power factor angle is maintained constant. b. Constant reactive power control With this type of control the reactive power output of the synchronous motor remains constant at all loads. Operating point is established by a manual set point.
