Dear Grade 4 Parents/Guardians,

I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Johannah Wirzba and I am
going to be your students new student teacher starting in January. I am a PSIII student from the
University of Lethbridge and this is my final teaching practicum. In University I have a major in
Mathematics and a major in History. Prior to my practicum here at Our Lady of the Assumption
School I had three other practicums including Lethbridge Christian School, Riverside School in
Medicine Hat and Brooks Junior High School. At these schools I learned a great deal about what it
means to be a teacher, a learner and a support for my students.
My number one goal for your child is for them to reach their full potential. I am excited to build a
safe community in which students can learn and be engaged. Assessment is my next priority. I want
to make sure both you and your child can see their progress academically, and behaviourally, as well
as the next steps for further growth.
Over the next few months, I have the pleasure of teaching your student a variety of things, but
predominantly Math and Science. In Math we will focus on Multiplication and Division; 2D
Geometry; Fractions and Decimals; and Measurement. In Science I hope teach a unit on Wheels and
Levers, and a unit on Devices that Move.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. I am so excited to get to know your
student better over the coming months, Im sure were going to have a lot of fun and learn a lot!
