Dear Parents and Belle Hopefuls,

I am very excited that your child is interested in auditioning for the Belles Drill
Team! There are many aspects of being a Belle that you and your child need to
consider before trying out and hopefully this letter will give you an idea of what this
organization is all about!
Commitment and dedication by the Belles and their parents are required to be a
member. There are early morning practices, late night games, fundraising events,
parades, pep rallies, competitions, and so much more. In order to work as a team,
each member is expected to attend and be highly involved in everything that the
Belles attend.
Hard work and discipline are necessary to be the best at what we do, and that is
always our goal. Being a member of the Belles teaches the girls responsibility, selfdiscipline, maturity, and dependability. For a member of a team like the Belles, there
is a time for glory and recognition, but also a time for conformity and sacrifice. I
expect the Belles to have high moral standards for themselves and their teammates
and to act responsibly in and out of uniform.
Your daughter will develop friendships, and lessons to last a lifetime. Being a
member of this organization will be the highlight of many memories throughout
High School. We look forward to your daughter becoming a part of this organization
and we wish you all the best as you enter into this process.

Bowie Belle Requirements for Auditions

The Bowie High School Belles is a school organization composed of freshmen,
sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The forms needed are listed below. Those trying
out will be judged on ability, personal presentation, projection, and showmanship.
Attached you will find a sample score sheet that will be used by the judges.
In order to be eligible, you must meet the requirements listed below. You must
complete and turn in the following:

BHS Belles Application & Permission Form

Discipline Records from your Assistant Principal-2015-2016
Authorization for Medical Treatment
Copy of most current report card with all passing grades

A. The papers listed above must be received from each Belle Hopeful by 6:30 on
Wednesday March 18, 2015. These papers must be complete, legible and received
to the directors by the end of the clinic on the date listed.
B. Belle Hopefuls will need to attend the Belle Hopeful Clinic where the Belles
Directors and Officers will teach stretching techniques, a jazz/kick routine and other
skills. The Belle Clinic will be March 16th-March 19th.
C. The Belle Clinic is Mandatory for each Belle Hopeful to attend. Please be on time
and understand that you may not depart early. This will result in dismissal from the
audition process. Each Hopeful must wear all black throughout the entire week of
clinic. Hair must be pulled away from the face each day. There will be NO Cell
Phones allowed, NO jewelry, NO gum, and NO guests. The Clinic and Auditions are
closed.
D. The auditions for Bowie Belles is Saturday March 21 st at Bowie High School at
8:00 a.m. Tryouts are closed to everyone except those assisting with tryouts,
judges, and administrators.
E. Tryout attire is a black leotard or black shirt with black dance pants or tights, and
jazz shoes. Numbers will be provided. The Belle Hopefuls will audition in groups of 4
or more depending upon the number of students auditioning.

Below you will find a description of what each fee includes and where the money
will be allotted.
Activity Fee- This fee will go strictly to the BOOSTER CLUB. This fee will cover
expenses listed but not limited to Football Meals, Summer Events, Activities for the
Team, Banquet, and Additional Competition Accessories needed.
Camp Fee- This fee will go strictly to the Dance Company that will provide camp
services for the team and lunch for each camp day.The camp will last 3 days and
the team will have the opportunity to learn 8-10 routines for the upcoming dance
season.
Attire Fee- This fee will go strictly to the Apparel Companies selected. This fee
includes practice clothing, performance attire, as well as dance shoes, bags, and
warm-ups.
Uniform Rental- The Hat fee is $50.00. Returning members will NOT have to pay
this fee! The remainder of this $25.00 fee goes toward the cleaning of the uniforms
at the end of the season. This fee also ensures that if anything happens to the
uniforms there is a budget to pull from for adjustments and corrections.
Competition Fee- This fee goes toward the registration and costume rentals for
the 2016 competition season.

Belles Commitment Agreement

I understand that if chosen as a Bowie Belle, I will commit to the requirement of
many hours of summer and before/after school practice. I also understand that
Summer Camp is MANDATORY and failure to participate will result in dismissal
from the Bowie Belles. I understand that my attendance at all Belles classes,
practices and activities is required and non-attendance will not be tolerated and will

result in dismissal from the Bowie Belles. The Bowie Belles is a full year
commitment and I understand that all activities within this organization preside over
work scheduling conflicts, and other extra-curricular organizations.

I understand my financial responsibilities as a parent. I understand the due dates of

the Belle fees and where the money will be allotted towards. I WILL MAKE
PAYMENTS ON TIME AND IN FULL. If I am unable to make a payment, I will
contact the directors before the payment is due to schedule and arrange payment
options. If for any reason my child is dismissed from the team, the amount due at
the time will still remain as an outstanding balance. This may include fees assessed
for activities or an item she has not yet taken part in or received that was paid for
on her behalf (NON-REFUNDABLE ACTIVITIES/ITEMS). Additional information in
regards to payments will be discussed at the Mandatory Parent Meeting for the
parents of the team members.
