Read and locate the required word in the dictionary.

Read and understand different texts such as instructions, directions, notices, labels,
messages, letters, passages, recounts and descriptions.

Read and understand simple factual texts by answering in relations to main ideas and

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
i) read a text on ecosystem and answer comprehension questions.
ii) find the meanings of words.
iii) complete a table.
iv) role-play an interview.
Activities:
1. Teacher tells pupils that they are going to read a passage on ecosystem.
2. Teacher briefly explains the word ecosystem. Ecosystem (all the animals and plants
depend on each other to live and the sun as the main source of energy. In the ecosystem,
the sun helps plants to grow. These plants provide food for the herbivorous animals.
These animals are then eaten by the carnivorous animals).
3. Teacher reads the passage and pupils listen.
4. Teacher guides pupils to make short notes.
5. Teacher highlights the important words in the passage and encourage pupils to write them
in their exercise books.
6. Pupils find the meanings of words in bold from the dictionary.
7. Pupils complete the exercises given.

Previous Knowledge

: Pupils already learnt some of the words in their Science lesson.

: Textbook (page 91 - 92), food-chain diagram
