The Office of the Inspector General for the New York City Police Department (OIG-NYPD) is authorized to investigate, review, study, audit and make recommendations relating to the operations, policies, programs and practices of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of the NYPD, increasing public safety, protecting civil liberties and civil rights, and increasing the public's confidence in the police force. We have reviewed your complaint and will keep a record of it for information as it relates to the operation, policies, programs and practices of the NYPD. While our office has determined not to specifically investigate your complaint at this time, the matter you have brought to our attention will help inform the work of the OIG-NYPD going forward.
