Summary
Under the direction of the Superintendent, acts as the districts MLTI Tech Lead and
manages the MLTI program for staff, and students in Kindergarten and grades 6-12.
Performs skilled work in the design, configuration and maintenance of computers,
network systems, and other related equipment. The Technology Director assumes
responsibility for all network performance monitoring and management; makes
recommendations and implements network upgrades; provides technical assistance
to associated support organizations such as telephone companies, contract repair
technicians, network installers and other service providers, in support of the Districts
telecommunications goals and objectives; and provides district-wide technical
support and leadership for both academic and administrative technology needs.
Provides direct supervision for technology staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the MLTI 1:1 Program for staff, grades 6-12 & Kindergarten, including
assignment and distribution of computers, inventory and asset tracking in the
MLTI Asset Manager, transferring devices in & out of district asset pool.
Performs hardware and software updates, maintenance and troubleshooting of
MLTI devices to determine defects and malfunctions. Facilitates repairs
between students, staff & MLTI Depot. Restores & Reimages MLTI devices as
recommended. Acts as District MLTI Tech Lead and attends all MLTI related
trainings.
Manages the MSLN Joebox, Apple Remote Desktop and other Network Filtering
Systems.
Serves as the primary support for the Infinite Campus Portal for students and
parents.
Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for
technology staffing, type of computers and peripheral equipment needed, or
modifications to existing equipment and system that will provide capability for
new or upgraded networks, while maintaining efficient operation and effective
use of space.
Understands aspects of data storage on hard-disks and ability to recover both
network systems from hard-disk crashes with minimal data loss; uses
appropriate utilities to retrieve lost data from a backup after disk crash or
accidental deletion.
Investigates, tests and recommends the purchase of a variety of equipment;
maintains an adequate supply of parts and materials needed for maintenance
and repair.
Attends training programs relative to the operation and maintenance of
computers, network systems and electronic equipment.
Serves as primary district e-mail postmaster, world-wide-web Webmaster and
system administrator.
Assigns and administers all school-issued email accounts.
Assigns and administers all school-issued eBackpack accounts.
Works with Design Team to plan and coordinate student, staff and
administrator technology training, based on knowledge of identified
technology needs.
Reviews and approves all hardware and software purchases to assure
compatibility and helps coordinate software licenses and inventories.
Creates and maintains and updates student, staff and administration folders in
Active Directory.

Provides leadership to the schools Technology Committee, assisting in the


design and implementation of site-based technology plans.
Coordinates technology demonstrations and delivers presentations to
students, staff, administration, board members and parents.
Manages and oversees all technology staff.
Manages and supervises the technology budget and inventory.
Drafts applications and proposals to submit bid for system technology needs,
contacts vendors, and maintains positive relations with corporate partners.
Coordinates in the development, monitoring and periodic evaluation of a
three-year technology plan for the district.
Remains current on new developments in the areas of software, hardware,
networks, telecommunications, training and maintenance.
