U-18 Spain Futsal Championship

On the last days of 2009 (from 28 to 30), It took place the U-18 Spain Futsal
Championship in Melilla. Teams formed by the best players of any futsal league in
each region played the first term of the national championship.

Our team, Canary Islands, in which there are 3 boys from IES Santa Ana, was not
so lucky, as it’s usual. The names of these 3 players will not be told due to the
embarrassing situations they could suffer after everybody knows the result of the 3
matches they played.

The first one was the worst one. After a hard trip, taking two different planes,
travelling at night, with no time for sleeping, they (we) lost 15 – 1 against
Andalucía. It’s important to say players were very much tired and Andalucía is
considered as one of the best teams (or the best one)

La Rioja seemed a better opponent. It is considered one of the worst ones (with
Canary Islands). The match was very exciting; bad we were the unlucky team (as
it’s usual). We failed 2 of 3 double penalties we shot, and the score was 4-1.

The last match against Melilla ended 4-0, but the result does not reflect what
happened in the camp. It was the best match we played, but again we failed so
many opportunities to goal.

After the 3 matches, Andalucía and Melilla are going to the final term in March,
while La Rioja and Canary Islands are going home to train a bit more for the next
time they go.
