Family STEM Nights Benefit Everyone!

What is Family STEM Night?

A Family STEM Night is an evening program of science, technology, engineering
and mathematics activities in which students and their parents can work together
on simple, age-appropriate, inquiry-based activities. The program will use readily
available, low-cost materials.

Why Family STEM Night?

Brings STEM learning to the family unit.

Encourages doing STEM at home with everyday materials.

Sparks childrens academic interest.

Stimulates parents interest in their childs STEM education (research

shows a direct link between parental attitudes and student achievement).

Builds connections between classroom STEM and the real world.

Provides an excellent opportunity for intellectual interaction with parents and children.

Increases parents scientific interest and knowledge.

Allows high school students to earn community service hours while engaging middle and
elementary students in activities they have planned
