How will we assess learning?

Through observations, worksheets, checklists and rubrics (See attached)
Comments/Evaluation of Unit: Overall, this lesson was a lot of fun. Students were engaged from start to finish. I should have spent more
time explaining a heros quest and the concept of a hero. I helped the students research the culture first and then read the literature. With
the help of the classroom teacher, I then guided the students through making connections between the culture and literature. An extension
activity to practice making this connection between literature and culture would be to have the students read the literature first and draw
conclusions about the culture. They could then research to see if their conclusions were correct. This would help students to understand that
we can use literature to understand other cultures. This is a lesson I will use again.

7 Steps to Making a Good TRAILER

Think: Get your ideas organized

Watch other trailers for ideas
http://www.slimekids.com/book-trailers/
Make a timeline of the story
Consider: Heros quest:
1 Name of Hero
2 The Force the Hero will battle
3 The Journey (specifically where will the journey start and finish)
4 Obstacles the Hero must overcome
5 How will the epic end
6 Theme or real reason the hero took the journey
What will you include & what will you leave out?
Write down your narration (10-15 Sentences)

Really big pictures

Make a folder
Find your pictures
Import pictures into the program you are using

Add narration and titles

Show title at the beginning and credits at the end
Narrate pictures
Adjust so pictures and words are timed properly

Improve: Edit & Enhance

Does it flow? Does it make sense? Did you end strong?

Lay down the soundtrack

Does the music enhance the story?
Does it still have focus & flow?

Evaluate & Redo

Preview
Check narration & pictures
Check title and credits
Dont be afraid to change things

Render/finalize your trailer
