Teaching Experience
Stony Plain Central School Student Teacher

October 2014 December 2014

I spent my nine-week teaching practicum at Stony Plain Central School. Its a school that accommodates
students from kindergarten to grade nine. I was fortunate enough to teach an amazing group of grade
three students. My students had great range of abilities so I spent a lot of focus on accommodating all
students individual learning needs into my lesson plans. While I was there I created and delivered a
complete unit for the grade three science unit: Rocks and Minerals. Upon completing my practicum, I have
continued to volunteer once a week in the classroom.
Millgrove Elementary School Student Teacher

November 2013 December 2013

During the course of my five-week student teaching practicum, I was placed in a grade two classroom at
Millgrove Elementary School. I spent my time working with 24 students who really helped me to develop
an effective classroom management regime. I was constantly working to differentiate my lessons to
accommodate for the IPP of a student in my class with autism. While I was there I discovered my role as an
elementary teacher both in the classroom and in the school community.
Millgrove Elementary School - Volunteer

September 2012 Present

The year leading up to my first student teaching practicum, I volunteered at Millgrove Elementary School
in a grade two classroom. I worked with individual students who needed extra support in areas like
reading, writing, math, etc. I also spent time working in small groups with students on Art projects or
subjects students were absent for. Upon finishing my student teaching practicum at Millgrove Elementary
School in December 2013, I continued to volunteer throughout the remainder of the school year.
La Pearle Elementary School - Volunteer

January 2012 April 2012

During my first year of University, I volunteered at La Pearle Elementary School with the Study Buddy
program. I worked in a grades 2-4 strategies classroom. It gave me the opportunity to work with individual
students and students in small groups to develop skills in reading, writing, and math. I was able to witness
and work with students to try alternative strategies in math to best suit the individual learner. I have
continued to use these skills Ive learned in more formal classroom environments and lesson planning.

Work Experience
The Childrens Place Spruce Grove, AB

October 2012 - Present

I have been working at The Childrens Place in Spruce Grove for the past few years. It is a great part-time
job to have while working towards my Elementary Education Degree. Shortly after beginning as an
associate I was asked to work as a store lead. I spent my time handling money, customer service, working
visual planograms, directing fellow team members, and I was responsible for opening and closing the
store. This job has provided me with many opportunities to develop my role as a leader, in turn further

developing my voice as an educator. I have met many wonderful people working here that have supported
and encouraged my pursuit of becoming a teacher.
The Links Spruce Grove, AB

April 2013 Present

I have worked at The Links golf course in Spruce Grove for the past two summers. I am planning on once
again returning to the course for the summer of 2015, before beginning my career as being a full-time
teacher. At The Links I serve and wait on customers, work weddings and banquets, bartend, work the
concession, beverage cart, and I am responsible for keeping the restaurant and bar neat and tidy.
Discoveryland Daycare Spruce Grove, AB

April 2012 August 2012

I worked at Discoveryland Daycare during the summer of my first year of University. I worked full time with
children ranging from 6 months old to 12 years old. I spent my time working with children of many ages, as
I would float between the classrooms that needed me. It provided me with the opportunity to see the
developmental differences between children of all ages.
Safeway Canada Spruce Grove, AB

June 2010 October 2012

I began working at Safeway while I was in high school. It was the perfect job while in high school and
University. I worked as a cashier and also ran self-checkouts. I liked it because I excel in a fast-paced
environment. I was able to memorize the produce codes quite quickly. It gave me the work experience and
work ethic, I will continue to utilize throughout my professional life.
