Blog Entry 3: Differentiating Instruction through Technology

According to Carol Ann Differentiation means tailoring instruction to meet
individual needs. Whether teacher differentiate, content, process, products,
or the learning environment, the use of or going assessment and flexible
grouping makes this a successful approach to instruction (Carol Ann
Tomlinson). It is very important for me to go above and beyond to teach my
students but not only to teach them but to make sure that they are well a
equip them with everything that they need to be successful. By doing so this
will help build up and strengthen their understanding to the subject at hand
while developing an understanding for technology as a valuable part of the
process of education. While communication is an important part of teaching
with all the technology tools being widely available it makes communicate
much more easier and faster to communicate with others an a well equip
manner.
Technology to Differentiate Instruction (300-400 words)
(LAPTOPS): Laptops they can be used to enhance learning because your
students can access the Internet were they can research variety information
at their desks. This technology tool will connect to every learning style
because if some of your students are visual learners they can see exactly
what it is you are talking about in the lesson. For your students that learn by
listing they can see and hear what you are talking about in the lesson while
you are explaining what you want them to do they can follow along with you.
For your hands on students these students learning styles are key because

their can see, hear what you are saying but the best way for them to grasp
the concept is to physically do the work so by your students using a laptop
for this assignment it will hit all of their learning styles. The laptop can
connect to Internet it can also teach your students almost anything that
they desire to learn from your lesson. There is many educational games that
they can play for extra tips or pointers on the subject. I would implement
songs, video games, verities website for them to go and review for the
lesson, and movies to help drive home the topic and giving my students a
better understanding of the assignment and the technology tool that they
need to use to complete this assignment. Technology can keep the lesson
interesting for the students while teaching them initial skills while they are
having fun is idea for you and their parents. Then connecting this to ISTE
standards for students the students can use this technology to learn
important skills and knowledge, and they are learning how to operate and
navigate through technology.
(The SMART TABLE): Using the SMART TABLE the students will be able to
enhance their learning and have fun while doing it. This technology learning
tool will be able to connect to all of the different learning styles all at once it
draws all age groups to it from K-12 graders can all get enjoyment out of this
device. It is awesome for special needs children even for students that do not
have any physically or mental complications. Students will be able to
collaborate with their classmates, gather information for discuss, it will help
them become more sociable, its very user friendly and capabilities of a

multitouch. Its great for your visual learners they can follow along with you
while you are interacting with them. The same goes for your audio learners
they can hear what is going on while you are explain the lesson as well. For
the your hands on learners these are the students that is going to grasp this
concept and be able to complete the assignment with no problems at all
because these students will love the multitouch of this interactive learning
center. Now connecting this with the ISTE standards for students the
students can use this technology to learn important skills and knowledge,
and they are learning how to operate and navigate through technology.

(SMART BOARD): With the Smart Board I would be able to hit all of my
students learning styles at one time by connecting the SMART BOARD to my
computer and projector it would turn any assignment or lesson plan into a
touch screen display. This learn tool will come in handled for all of my
students the visual learners would be able to see a clear vision of the
assignments and as well for the audio learners not only would they be able
to hear the lesson they could even pause it needed too. For the hands on
students they can physically go up to the smart board and touch it move it
around make it bigger if needed they will get the full affect from using the
smart board. This technology tool will enhance learning and keep the student
engage all at the same time. Then by connecting this to ISTE standards for
students the students can use this technology to learn important skills and

knowledge, and they are learning how to operate and navigate through
technology.
Pros and Cons (150-250 words)

Any time you are using technology you will need to make sure that you as
the educator do all of the research for the assignment and technologies
tools. To see if they are compatible with your lesson plan and actually
teaching your students what you want them to learn. This would be a con to
Differentiating Instruction through technology. When used properly
instruction can be differentiate through technology (Differentiating
Instructions, 2008). Using technology tools are good devices to implement in
your classroom and lesson plans they are great teaching tools. But the down
fall when using technology would be if the technology does not work or the
students do not know how to properly work the devices then the student will
be unable to access the lesson.
Concluding Paragraph (4-6 sentences)
When dealing with technology theres a wide vast of opportunity to use
technology in your lesson plan when you take the time to plan it ahead of
time. Keeping your students in mind this shouldnt be hard to do considering
the subject and the technologies tools. You will need to research all the
components of the lesson plan and you will need to making sure that your

students will have access to these technology tools as well. In order for your
students to complete the assignment accordantly is key. As for me becoming
a future educator its very important to me to educate my students a variety
of information that they can take and apply throughout their lives.
