To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Andrew Alberti. Andrew has
been my practicum student at Highline Community School (HLN) since August 2013. HLN serves a
diverse population of approximately 630 elementary students. Over 80% of our students receive free
and reduced lunch. We have a program for students with significant emotional-behavioral concerns
(Behavior Development Program), as well a program for students with moderate to severe special
education needs (Integrated Learning Center). These features have enabled Andrew to observe and
work with a large variety of students with diverse strengths and challenges.
During the course of Mr. Albertis practicum, I have observed his tremendous compassion towards both
students and adults. His passion and commitment to the field of school psychology are evident in his
actions and during our conversations. Mr. Albertis ability to take constructive feedback is particularly
impressive, as well as his immediate incorporation of such feedback into his practice.
As part of Mr. Albertis practicum, he has experienced the opportunity to observe a variety of students
in many different settings. His observations are insightful, detailed, and highlight the compassion he has
for all students. Andrew has also worked with several students in the classroom to facilitate improved
student behavior and academic performance, and his efforts have led to improved student participation,
behavior, and work production. Additionally, Mr. Alberti has been involved in several situations
involving immediate crisis response. He has been helpful, empathic, and remained calm.
Mr. Alberti has counseled several students on an individual basis. He connects well with these students
and they look forward to their time with him. Andrew has used several counseling approaches and
strategies such as collaborative problem solving and student drawings as a method to guide problem
solving. Mr. Alberti attended the Tier 1 Collaborative Problem Solving conference prior to starting his
practicum, another demonstration of his commitment to School Psychology.
Andrew demonstrates excellent written communication skills. His cognitive assessment reports are
clear and he exhibits good ability to interpret the students performance. Additionally, Andrew shows
good judgment in choosing the appropriate assessment for students. All of Andrews written
communications are excellent and demonstrate his intelligence, common sense, and insightful nature.
Mr. Alberti is a highly dedicated and compassionate practicum student. He is open to constructive
feedback, to different perspectives, and to educating himself above and beyond the school psychology
curriculum. Andrew would be a considerable asset to your school or program.
