notes/checklist:
ask each
student and
group about
their coloursnote which
students are still
not able to
grasp primary
colours and
involve this in
future lesson
planning
(http://painting.about.com/library/blpaint
/blcolormixingpalette1.htm) and use key
questions whilst using primary colours
to mix secondary colours. Use key
questions to ensure students are
engaged. If students are confident
move to How to Blend Colours?
(http://trycolors.com) and start to talk
about colours using light and dark
shades (i.e. black and white).
Activity 2: Ensure students are
working in groups of 3. These groups
should all have a zip lock bag of each
of the following (un mixed- i.e. two
dollops of paint):
1 x blue + red
1 x blue + yellow
1 x yellow + red
Students will be instructed to keep the
zip lock bag closed and asked to each
mix one of the bags by squeezing and
rubbing the paint inside of the bags.
Students will then be instructed to use
paint brushes to paint an animal using
the colour they have mixed. During the
mixing and painting process, discussion
should be sparked about the colour
mixing and the secondary colours
which were made from the primary
colours in the zip lock bags.
Conclusion: Gather students on mat
and allow them to stand whilst playing
the Three Primary Colours song and
video again for reinforcement. Students
should be encouraged to dance along
to the actions of the video to assist
kinaesthetic learning.
Finally discuss what the primary colours
are, and what colours they make when
mixed together.
