General Classroom Procedures

1) Start of Period
a) Attendance is taken according to assigned seating chart, record of missing work
maintained.
b) Absences are recorded by writing the name and date on handouts and kept in an
absentee folder on a bookshelf at the back of the classroom. Daily assignments
can be found on a calendar in the classroom, and classmates can help returning
students get reoriented in terms of missing work.
c) Tardiness, to be consistent, all students must use the sign in sheet so that their
attendance records can be maintained with the administrative office.
d) Expected behavior, students entering the classroom are to pick up any handouts at
the front of the class, and go to their seats to begin by quietly answering warm up
questions posted on the board. After answering the questions, students will then
begin copying the outline of class activities from the projector screen
demonstration as directed.
e) Leaving the room are for emergencies only, consisting of seeing the nurse, or
extreme urgency to use the restroom. Records are kept of all students leaving the
room, and a reduction in points is given to students who dont bring their work to
class on time.
2) Use of classroom supplies and equipment to work on daily activities and accessing
teacher and student materials for the day.
3) Seatwork and Instruction
a) All students are required to pay attention and take notes during presentations.
b) Participation is strongly encouraged, and points will be given for classroom
involvement. Students are to raise hands and wait to be called upon before
speaking out.
c) Seatwork
i) Students are allowed to engage in quiet talk while working on in-class activities
or group work.
ii) Students are to raise hands if help is needed.
iii) Students are allowed to leave their seats to sharpen pencils, obtain paper, or
gather other necessary materials.
iv) Upon early completion of work, students are allowed to work on homework, or
complete any missed work, in addition to studying prior material. Students are
encouraged to assist classmates in completing their work on time.
4) Group Work
a) Students will be assigned to groups based on various abilities to provide for
balance, and to prevent personality clashes.
b) Handouts of outlines regarding the roles of each student will be given and
determined.
c) All materials and group assignments will be distributed.
d) Cooperative learning takes place in order to successfully complete group activities
and tasks.
5) Close of Period
a) Students begin by cleaning up and returning all supplies and materials to their
original place.
b) Reminders are given for any upcoming assignments, assessments, and homework
that are due.

c) Before students are allowed to pick up their backpacks and leave the class,
everyone must stand up and students are guided to give a recap of what they
learned for the day.
