Reflection Paper #1
When it was announced in class that we would be taking little quizzes in order to figure
out what kind of personality we had, I had to admit that I looked at the person sitting next to me
and chuckled a little bit. I thought to myself that there was no way that taking a little quiz would
be able to describe the kind of person I am, how I think, what type of job I should pursue, etc.
However, in taking the Jung Typology Test during class, I found my results to be spot on. The
personality description which steamed from the answers that I provided in the test, fit my
personality and characteristics perfectly. Perfectly, so much that I felt like I not only wanted to
learn more about my specific personality type, but needed to.
According to the Jung Typology Test, my personality is ENTJ type. This is described as a
mix of extraverted, intuitive, thinking and judging. According to the site, ENTJ is among the
least common types within a population of people. Interestingly enough, as a female with this
personality type I am considered to be a rarity. There was a statistic that I stumbled upon on this
site which supported this information it indicated, that approx. 2% of the general population have
this personality type. In addition to this, 3% of men have this personality type whereas only 1%
of women. I found this statistic to be particularly startling and extremely interesting. Due to the
fact that ENTJs are natural born leaders and seem to take charge no matter where they are, it is
easy to see the rarity among women and how often when women have this personality type they
are seen to be extremely rude (in nicer terms). Whereas men, they are considered to be very
powerful and maintain authority which is more socially accepted versus a woman maintaining
authority in this same manner. This is where I began to wonder what other factors describe this
personality type and what if I would have any disagreements.
One of the initial things I noticed upon reading within the description of an ENTJ
personality type, is that persons with this personality type tend to be very direct, blunt and be a
natural born leader. Reading this I instantly laughed, in a different manner than previously,
because it described me perfectly. Continuously, both good and bad, I get told how blunt I can be
and how I tend to take or want to take charge no matter what situation I encounter. Being a blunt
person can be both a blessing and a curse. I have learned over the years when to keep my mouth
shut however, still have no problem telling people what they dont want or need to hear (under
certain circumstances). Additionally, in most situations, I would rather be the leader, take charge
and get things done within a peer group project rather than depending or taking the lead from
someone else. That way, I know that things will get done properly, efficiently and effectively.
However, I dont mind not being the leader sometimes and understand that I cant always direct
and be in charge. When a task comes across my path, I think specifically as to how it will be
accomplished and what the outcomes will be like. I am an organized person, particularly when it
comes to my school work.
Another thing I found to be interesting within the description of ENTJs personalities, is
that we have a continuous motivation to succeed and do better. It is stated, that ENTJs enjoy the

process of hard work and the success which outcomes from this process. ENTJs are specifically
driven to get things done and are always in the pursuit of some type of goal. This description fits
many of my characteristics. No matter how many times I am told that I cannot do something or
wont complete or accomplish something, I do everything I can to prove these people wrong and
feel a sense of accomplishment within myself by doing what people say I cannot. Additionally, I
dont give up on my dreams and maintain a clear vision of what I want in life. Since I was a
young girl, I have always wanted to be a lawyer. For the past 20 years, I have done everything
that I can to work hard and put forth my best effort to accomplish this goal. I did so, even if this
meant working three jobs and going to school full time all at one time, I have never gave up on
something and I dont ever plan to. This is another description of the ENTJ personality type,
developing long-range plans for their lives and seeing their visions come to life. Additionally,
oddly enough, a lawyer is one of the possible/ suggested career paths for those with an ENTJ
personality type!
Looking further into this personality type, I wanted to see what other types of personality
types I would get along with. According to the Jung Typology test site, I get along best with
those who are similar and different to myself. Those with an ENTJ personality type work best in
the work place with those who share similar goals and similarly aggressive in getting what they
want. Particularly, ENTJ personality is so similar to ENFP that we get along best. Reading into
the ENFP personality, I can see that this would be so because it too describes my personality
fairly well in relation to ENTJ. This site also states that I get along fairly well with those who are
INTJ. The only difference between ENTJ and INTJ is those who are introvert and extrovert. I
can see, again, why I get along with people who have this personality type because I too can be
very introverted at times. Although I am primarily outgoing and like being around other people
and being the center of attention, I like taking time to myself away from commotion.
According to this site, the saying, opposites attract is all too true. Within my
personality type, I am attracted to those who are different than myself. This attraction comes
from a urge to have that balance in life, in which the opposite person supports/ provides. I found
this to be particularly interesting due to the fact that I had my boyfriend take this same quiz and
he got practically the opposite of the personality type of ENTJ, INFP. This site goes into depth
with these particular personality types and compares and contrasts their similarities and
differences. It was interesting for us to experience!
The EQ test took me less than two minutes to compete and the results hit the nail on the
head. My personal competence score was a 78 with my self-awareness at a 82 and my selfmanagement at a 73. According to this test, my level of self-awareness allows me to accurately
perceive my emotions and stay aware of them as they happen. Additionally, according to this test
my self-management gives me the ability to use this self-awareness and manage my emotions
according to differing situations. Since my self-management is a score of a 72, it is said that there
is likely room for improvement, of which, I would not disagree. Sometimes I can be a hard head
and not show my emotions and others, its hard to hide them.
My EQ test also resulted my social competence with an overall score of a 91 with my
social awareness at a 91 and my relationship management at a 91. I knew that the results of this
portion of the quiz results would be in the higher numbers, however, I had no idea they would be
this high as the quiz indicated that this is fairly rare. According to this test, my social awareness
gives me the ability to accurately pick up emotions of other people to see how they are really

feeling in different situations. I hear this a lot from my friends, that I have a way of just knowing
how someone is feeling especially if they are not saying anything verbally. I tend to be able to
pick up nonverbal cues pretty accurately. Additionally according to this test, my relationship
management is at a 91 which allows me to be aware of my emotions and use that with the
emotions of others in order to interact in a successful manner. It also indicates that I am able to
guide communications between persons and effectively handle conflict. Although I previously
had no prior knowledge to what a mediator was in legal settings, I was sort of a mediator within
my own social context. Whenever my friends are having conflicts either between each other or
with their boyfriends or just need advice, they tend to come to me because I always act as a
neutral party and try and help both sides figure the situations out.
One of the more interesting things about the EQ test, was that it provided ways in which
you could improve your scores and further improve yourself. Having a score of 72 in my selfmanagement gave me the most room to improve upon. The funny thing is, is that the results of
this section in how to improve are the same things my father used to tell me when I was younger
and would through a temper tantrum. Although, I dont through many temper tantrums now a
days, I dont take the time to think about how to be a little more relaxed in the situation due to
my hot headedness. In fact, according to the results of this test, some of my biggest down falls is
occasionally acting out when I get too upset, and brushing people off when something is
bothering me. The strategies provided in order to improve this, is to sleep on it, count to ten and
to think about what I say before I say it. Personally, there is no disagreement on my part there. I
have tried the last few days since I took this test to work on this and so far so good. Its only the
beginning! Who knew a few simple tests like this would actually help?

I would say that overall the ENTJ personality type describes me perfectly. In addition to
this test, the EQ test not only provided additional information, but ways in order to improve upon
my actions to better myself and those around me. The tests truly did hit the nail on the head on
my personality and the kind of person I am and how I carry myself and react to different
situations. Everything from my bluntness to my extreme need for order and organization. What I
had thought would just be a silly test, has taught me a lot about myself and the people I surround
myself around. It gave me ways in which I could improve on what I may be lacking and how to
be the best version of myself I can be. In my opinion, everyone has room for improvement
within their lives, and this has helped me a tremendous amount, surprisingly. After all, who
wouldve thought I shared the same personality as Richard Nixon or Steve Jobs?
