Note the following:
In German the verb is the central element in a sentence. The form of the verb changes according to whether (daca, fie cafie
ca, oricare din doi) it is used in the first second or third person.

= the third person singular of the verb sein (to be)
sein
= the infinitive form of the verb. This is the form in which verbs are listed in a dictionary.
das ist
= this is, that is. This expression is used to indicate objects or to introduce people.

The following expressions can be used:

- to describe something you can see or hear:
Das ist ein Lied.
Das ist ein Text
Das ist (+ noun).
- to say who something is by:
Das ist ein Lied von Klaus Hoffmann.
Das ist ein Text von Goethe.
Das ist (+ noun) von (+ proper noun).
In the first lesson, you hear different examples of how German is spoken. This gives you an idea of how the language sounds,
even if you do not understand the words. To begin with, you hear twopeople introducing themselves, then children reciting a
counting rhyme. After that you hear part of a news broadcast, a song and finally, an excerpt (extras) from a well-known work
of literature, Goethe's "Faust". The last two examples are explained in greater detail.
