This letter is being sent in recommendation of Ms. Alyssa Miller who is applying to be a teacher within your district. I was fortunate in having Ms. Miller as a student in my undergraduate class (ERCH422 Teaching Literacy PrK-4). She consistently displayed the highest sense of professionalism and enthusiasm throughout my in-class and out-of-class interactions with her. I was particularly struck with her ability to positively motivate peers to put forth their best efforts in their partner and small group work. Undoubtedly, her presence in the class made it a more positive learning community for the students and for me. Also notable was her dedication to doing the very best job she could in all of her assignments. She consistently went above and beyond class expectations in whatever she handed in. I have no doubt that her positive dispositions, dedication, and excellent ethic of hard work will benefit her students greatly when she becomes a teacher. Ms. Miller has had many opportunities to enrich the lives of the children with whom she works and volunteers. Since 2011, she has served as a nanny for four children ranging in ages from infancy through school age. In addition to that, since 2010, she has volunteered at a Middletown elementary school supporting teachers in the classroom, as well as in out-of-school activities. Her smiling face and her contagious enthusiasm, no doubt, serves to send positive messages to the teachers, children, and parents with whom she has volunteered. She has also taken on responsibilities with various student organizations on campus. I have no doubt that this collaborative and winsome spirit will also serve her well as she works with colleagues once she is hired. Ms. Miller also served as a student assistant to professors in the School of Education. She was known by all of the professors as someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty, and as one who is extremely dedicated to her field. She is clearly well-liked and well-respected by the professors within our department. Again, I enthusiastically endorse Ms. Millers application for a teaching position in your district. I have no doubt that she will be a highly dedicated teacher, a wonderful colleague and a wonderful addition to any staff. I would be more than happy to speak to you in support of her application. If you have any questions, I can be reached at (717)823-2788 cell, or (717)871-5770 office. Sincerely,
Dr. Prsida Himmele
