Prescribed for
Acetaminophen is used to relieve
fever, pains, aches, and colds.
Unless directed by physician,
Acetaminophen must not be used for
longer than 10 days

Dosing
The oral dose for adults is 325 to 650
mg every 4 to 6 hours.
The maximum daily dose is 4 grams.
The oral dose for child is based on
the childs age, and the range is 40
650 mg every 4 hours.

Drug Interactions
Acetaminophen is mostly
metabolized by livers enyzmes.
If the doses are greater than the
recommended one, it will be toxic,
and will damage the liver.

Mechanism
Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in
the Central Neural System
As an active
metabolite,acetaminophen form into
AM404, an anandamidereuptake
inhibitor. By inhibiting anandamide
reuptake, levels of anandamide in
the synapse remain high and are
able to desensitise the TRPV1
receptor.

Store tablets and solutions at room
temperature 15C - 30C
Suppositories should be refrigerated
below 27C

Preganancy
Acetaminophene is used in all stages
of pregnancy and is the drug of
choice for short term treatment of
fever and minor pain during
pregnancy

Nursing Mothers
Acetaminophene is excreted in
breast milk in small quantities.
However, Acetaminophene used by
nursing mothers appears to be safe

Side Effects
When used appropriately, side
effects with Acetaminophene are
rare. The most serious side effect is
Liver damage due to :
Large Dosage
Chronic Use with alcohol or other drugs
Concomitant use with alcohol or other
drugs
Chronic alcohol use may also increase the
risk of stomach bleeding
