1 -Born in Portugal about 1480
2- He served in the Portugese navy
he fought India and East Indies.
3- Magellan helped Portugal with
trade with Moluccas also called the
spice islands.
4- He was not rewarded by the
Portuguese so he went to work for
Spain and his main purpose was to
claim spice islands for Spain.
5- Magellan sailed across the Atlantic
ocean and down the coast of South
America.
6-In 1520 he named pacific ocean.
7-With three ships Magellan crossed
the pacific. After 100 days he
reached the islands called the
Philippines.
8- On April 27, 1521 he died in a
fight with the people of the islands.
9- After his death two ships went
westward one ship went across the
Indian ocean.
