Admin Log In
Before you can add content or users, you must login as an administrator.

Go to https://50.iucnredlist.org/user
Add your username: redlistadmin
Add your password: ooyLjzb42C1Y3D0
Click log in

If you successfully logged in, you will see Drupal administrator bars across the top.

Add User (Admin Account)


1. Once you have logged in, navigate to the People page:

2. Click Add user (top left corner)

3. Fill out the required fields, marked with a asterisk:


a. Email address
b. Password (this will be reset by the user using a link in their welcome email if you
use the Notify option outlined below ).
c. Check the administrator box
d. Check the Notify user of new account box if you would like a welcome email
and reset password link sent to the user. If not, the password you have entered
will be used.
4. Click Create new account

Editing New/Existing Profiles:


Once a profile has been created, you will see it in the People Directory:
https://50.iucnredlist.org/admin/people.
To find a newly created account, you can either filter by the Member For column or search
for the organizations email.
1. To edit a profile, click the Edit button that corresponds with the correct account
(right-hand side).

2. Once on the Edit page of the account, please fill out all necessary fields. This will
likely include:
a. Username: Change this to the name of the correct admin
b. Email address: Change this to the email address of the correct admin
c. Password: This is where you can add, edit or change your current
password

Add Content

1. Once you have logged in, navigate to the Content page:
https://50.iucnredlist.org/admin/content
2. Click Add content (top left side)

Blog: These articles will display on the Updates page. Direct Link:
https://50.iucnredlist.org/node/add/blog
1. Begin filling in fields. You do not need to fill in every field.
a. Title: type in the title of the article.
b. Blog Image: upload image to associate with blog post. Multiple images can be
added.
c. Body: you can either type or copy and paste your article with the Paste from
Word function, which we highlighted below.

d. Blog categories: This function can be used to add groupings of blog posts for
organization purposes (i.e. campaign updates). Can also be left blank.
e. Outside article: This feature can be used for National Geographic articles. To
use this feature, check the box and fill in the Outside Article Site Name and
Outside Article URL fields.

2. Click Save to publish the post.


Page: This feature can be used to make basic pages on the site. (I.e. About or The Goal)

1. To create a new page, begin filling in fields. You do not need to fill in every field.
a. Title: type in the title of the page.
b. Body: you can either type or copy and paste your page text with the Paste from
Word function.
2. Click Save to publish the page.

Species: This content type is being used by the Amazing Species updates. Direct Link:
https://50.iucnredlist.org/node/add/species
1. To add a new amazing species, begin filling in fields. You do not need to fill in every
field. This spreadsheet can be used to organize necessary fields before entering species
content in Drupal manually. A complete list of necessary fields can be seen below. Other
fields can be left blank:
a. Common name: Indicates the common name of the species.
b. Scientific name: Indicates the scientific name of the species.
c. Status: Indicates whether the species is not evaluated, data deficient, least
concern, near threatened, vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered, extinct
in wild, or extinct.
d. Species: Indicates whether the species is an amphibian, bird, fish, invertebrate,
mammal, plant or reptile.
e. Continent: Indicates the native region of the species. (Note: Multiple continents
can be chosen by holding CTRL + Select multiple continents)

Colors : Indicates the color of the species (Note: Multiple colors can be chosen
by holding CTRL + Select multiple colors)
g. Habitat: Indicates the habitat of the species (Note: Multiple habitats can be
chosen by holding CTRL + Select multiple habitats)
h. Threats to species: Indicates the threats to the species (Note: Multiple threats
can be chosen by holding CTRL + Select multiple threats)
i. Species image: 500x500 pixels. Add credits and resize photos on Photoshop.
j. Big image: 1500x485 pixels. Add credits and resize photos on Photoshop.
k. Medium image: 980x450 pixels. Add credits and resize photos on Photoshop.
l. Small image: 600x400 pixels. Add credits and resize photos on Photoshop.
m. Map image: Check Photoshop to be sure map resolution is set to 72 ppi for
maximum quality.
n. Body: Copy /paste the body text from the PDF here. Be sure to hyperlink
appropriate words or phrases.
o. PDF: Upload original PDF here.
p. Links: Upload links from the PDF here. Use the Add another item button to
upload additional links. Titles of common links include, Knowledge, Experts,
and Get Involved. There are usually three links per PDF.
q. Matching FB Share Title: Copy/Paste the following phrase after editing the
correct species common name: My Closest Match is the Swan Goose
r. Matching FB Share Text: Copy/Paste the following phrase: Find out what
Amazing Species is your closest match by taking The IUCN Red List species
quiz.
s. Matching Twitter Share Text: Copy/Paste the following phrase: Find out what
Amazing Species is your closest match by taking The IUCN Red List species
quiz. 50.iucnredlist.org/matching-game
t. Share image: 1200x630 pixels. Resize image and add credit, title, status badge,
and IUCN logo in Photoshop. (Note: Social media share images require FTP file
transferring protocol. Contact the Brick Factory or the IUCN Tech Team for
upload.)
2. Click Save to publish the Amazing Species.

Webform:
This feature is used for IUCNs ongoing pledge and newsletter sign up. Your team will not need
to use this content type on a daily basis. In the event you would like to create a new form,
please contact the Brick Factory or the IUCN Tech Team (pending training).

Edit Content

1) Once you have logged in, click Find content on the Drupal task bar (top right corner).

2) You can sort by the title of your content, the type of content (blog, video, people, etc),
author of the content, whether the content has been published, and vocabulary of the
content (whether you want it to be members only or a news tag. Once youve
selected your criteria, press apply

When you have found the content you would like to edit, click edit on the far right.
Make your changes.
Preview the content by clicking preview.
Save your changes by clicking save.

You can also edit content when you are logged in by going to the contents URL and clicking the
Edit button from the admin menu at the top of the page, under the main banner.



Note: Some content within the website cannot be edited or deleted because it is part of the
websites back-end code. This includes the following:
Homepage content
Colors, fonts and styles
Title and subtitle of the Amazing Species page
Buttons
Website header and footer
This work will need to be handled by Brick Factory or a member of IUCNs tech team (pending
training).

Delete or Unpublish Content



1) Once you have logged in, click Find content on the Drupal task bar in the top right
corner. (See screen grab from the Edit Content section).
2) You can sort by the title of your content, the type of content (blog, video, people, etc),
author of the content, whether the content has been published, and vocabulary of the
content (whether you want it to be members only or a news tag. Once youve
selected your criteria, press apply.
3) When you have found the content you would like to delete, click delete on the far right.

Timeline

The content within timeline on the About page (not visible when logged into the admin) is not
setup with the Drupal admin, but instead through this Google Doc:

Ive shared editing permissions with iucnredlist50@gmail.com, so please login to this account to
make any edits.
Content is divided into the following areas:
1. Start Date: Start of event year range
2. End Date: End of event year range
3. Headline: Used to populate the events headline (ie: Concern & Action) as well as the
label within the actual timeline chart.
4. Text: Used to populate the description text. To make a word red/bold, place it within
<span>TEXT</span>.
5. Media: Main image for an event. These images are created by our designers and must
be updated to the FTP. Please reach out to TBF if new image is needed.
6. Media Thumbnail: Small image that appears in timeline. These images are created by
our designers and must be updated to the FTP. Please reach out to TBF if new image is
needed. (same image used for both media fields).
To make text updates, edit within the applicable cell. To republish the edits, click File > Publish
to Web > Republish Now > Ok.

Clearing the Sites Cache



If an update has been made to the site that you cant see, its possible that the site is caching older
content (much like your browser does) needs to be cleared. This can be done here:
https://50.iucnredlist.org/admin/config/development/performance
Once on this page, simply click the Clear all caches button and youre done.
