Needs and wants:

-Read How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
- Discuss what the needs and wants are of
the book as we go through it.
- Do needs and wants sorting on the board
if there is time.
Assessment through questions: Who can
tell me what a need is? Who can tell me
what a want is?
Answer any questions there may be.
Observe students throughout book and
activity.

Worksheets:
-Have students work on the sorting
worksheet first.
- Have them do it on their own and use
as an assessment tool.
- Challenge the students by completing
the written handout, this would be
good for the grade 2s, but the grade 1s
should maybe stick with the coloring of
what is a need or want.
Observation for formative assessment.
Completion and correctly placing the
wants and needs in the correct
category.
