B. Course Description
This course is intended to provide the participants with a brief overview of how to build and use the
LEGO Mindstrom robot kits in order to provide different STEM related activities to their students.
Participants will have the opportunity to build and program simple bots to utilize the various sensors
which come with the kits. Finally, participants will reflect on their work and create a shared set of
resources for each other and future teachers.

C. Course Requirements
Attend/participate in all required sessions
Two Face-to-Face sessions
All other activities will be done self-paced
Keep a log/reflection journal of hours and notes on sessions and submit log at the end of the course.
(The log format will be provided and should note a minimum of 8 hours of work, questions, and
reflection.)
Create and share a lesson/activity with the group
Turn in online journal of time spent building course.
Turn in online evaluation of this course.
Independent Collegial-time: Participants are encouraged to meet and discuss concepts and share ideas
and projects with colleagues between meetings. This time can be recorded in the participants
log/reflection journal.
As a finished reflection on the course, email a 1-page reflection paper on what you found most useful
and how it can be applied with your students. What we could do better with this training to better meet
your needs? What are your next steps to continue professional growth?
(The finished course reflection, copy of course outline template and a copy of the journal/log should be
sent to chirstopher.putnam@eu.dodea.edu no-later-than 03 June, 2015. The paper will be reviewed by
the course instructor. All submissions must be typed and include a cover sheet with the course title,
course number, location, dates and participants name.)
